Studio Alfred Klaassen Upgrades To Fairlight’s CC-1 Platform

Studio Alfred KlaassenStudio Alfred Klaassen, a post production facility that specializes in 5.1 surround sound for television, cinema and advertising agencies, has upgraded its four Fairlight QDC systems to the new Crystal Core (CC-1) engine.

Based in Amsterdam, the facility was established nearly 30 years ago by Alfred Klaassen with the intention of delivering the highest quality audio to help clients communicate messages, atmosphere and add layers of meaning to pictures. Studio Alfred Klaassen has a strong reputation for excellence, which is driven by a desire to stay one step ahead when it comes to the latest technology.

Studio Alfred Klaassen recently upgraded its Studio 2 to incorporate a Fairlight Constellation console, while the remaining three studios are all equipped with Fairlight Satellite systems. Each of the four studios has PyxisTrack video and run from an Ardis Technology DDP server, which is capable of streaming both audio and video. This set-up gives the facility full sound and picture integration and makes it easy to switch projects from one room to another.

Alfred Klaassen says: “By making use of the new Fairlight CC-1 platform, we are able to fully integrate all four studios to create one fluid working environment. Audio and video projects can now be swapped from room to room and moved from one person to another, which has significantly improved our workflow. The fact that we can now can easily open all kinds of audio and video files saves us a lot of transfer time and makes it possible for us to work much more efficiently. This was always our goal, and thanks to the upgrade to CC-1 we have now achieved exactly what we set out to do.

The decision to upgrade to the CC-1 platform has enhanced the studio’s integration by making it possible to work with any audio or video file format. Incorporated into Fairlight’s key products such as Constellation, Xynergi and Anthem, the CC-1 engine offers significant improvements in speed, rate of workflow and reliability by performing digital audio and video processing hundreds of times more efficiently than state-of-the-art CPUs or digital signal processors. CC-1 has also placed Fairlight at the forefront of ‘green’ computing initiatives by providing an alternative processing platform that delivers increased performance with dramatically lower power consumption, thus helping facilities reduce their energy costs and their carbon footprints.

Studio Alfred Klaassen handles a variety of stereo and 5.1 surround sound projects for television, film and advertising agency clients. The upgrade to the CC-1 platform was handled by Benelux systems integration specialist Digital & Media Solutions.
