A virtual press conference from Sound & Video Contractor

rockroll_logo.JPGNEW YORK, NEW YORK: Music’s most illustrious moments and movements have long been delivered to listeners’ ears with Sennheiser’s legendary microphones and headphones. It is only fitting, then, that a selection of products from Sennheiser and its affiliated company Klein + Hummel will fully immerse visitors to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ANNEX in an amazing audio journey through rock history. The ANNEX is now open in the heart of New York City’s Soho district.

“Sennheiser and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame each showcase the magical elements of music, making Sennheiser’s supporting partnership with the ANNEX an incredible match,” said Stefanie Reichert, vice president of strategic marketing for Sennheiser Electronic Corporation. “Sennheiser microphones are preferred by the most renowned musicians of our time. Now, fans have a unique opportunity to learn about and hear rock and roll’s superstar performers in a fantastic-sounding music environment.”

headphoneguy.JPGAn array of Sennheiser and Klein + Hummel products were handpicked by the producers of the ANNEX: Running Subway Productions, Jam Exhibitions and S2BN Entertainment. Running Subway Productions is the New York-based entertainment production company that presents the well-known production, “Bodies…The Exhibition” in New York City.

As visitors explore the 25,000 square-foot exhibit, they’ll hear tunes that complement each area of the gallery they are experiencing with a pair of Sennheiser PX 200 headphones and a clip-on Sennheiser guidePORT receiver.

The wireless guidePORT system offers visitors a seamless, personalized audio navigation experience at their own pace and level. Specially produced narratives and live sound tracks “trigger” the guidePORT system as the visitors browse the exhibits and pass by the many monitors and specially projected images and effects.

elvis.JPG“The guidePORT tour guide system takes what would either be a static read-only exhibition, or one that has many noisy and conflicting audio sources, and transforms it into an incredible personal experience for the rock and roll fan,” explained David McNutt, industry team leader for installed sound at Sennheiser. “The Stones, Simon & Garfunkel, Joplin, Clapton, Dylan all come alive as experienced through the personal guidePORT system.”

Throughout the “Roots & Influences” exhibit, for example, visitors will automatically hear how the music legends of yesterday, such as James Brown, have influenced today’s chart-toppers like 50 Cent and Notorious B.I.G. via the comfortable, crisp-sounding PX 200 headphones. Then, as visitors make their way to the “Moments to Movements” display to view such items as the never-before-displayed white Vox guitar from The Beatles, visitors will experience a seamless transition to an exhilarating soundtrack that perfectly accompanies the extraordinary rock artifacts-truly bringing the music to life. Once the tour is complete, the audio journey doesn’t end there, as a selection of Sennheiser headphones will be available for sale in the ANNEX shop.

Not only will visitors enjoy the exquisite audio quality of Sennheiser, but they’ll also hear he new Klein + Hummel IS speakers. Klein + Hummel, a Sennheiser Group company, recently introduced purpose-designed installed sound loudspeakers that can be tailored to a variety of environments. Before entering the guided audio experience, visitors will walk through the “Signature Hall” covered with seven Klein + Hummel ProX 6 loudspeakers and watch a multi-media presentation in special multi-channel sound over the new Klein + Hummel IS 123 loudspeakers and subwoofer systems.

James Sanna, executive producer of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ANNEX NYC, worked hard to get Sennheiser and Klein + Hummel into this project. “We are very pleased to have Sennheiser products creating the experience for our visitors,” Sanna said. “Their history and reputation for quality and performance are a perfect match for this exciting entertainment experience.”
