Electrosonic to Debut the ES7100 Encoder for HD-SDI

ES7100Electrosonic, an established leader in image networking will debut the ES7100 encoder for HD-SDI and 3G SDI streaming over IP networks at NAB booth SL9720.

The cost benefits of moving to IP for video contribution and distribution are assured with the ES7100′s unmatched combination of bit rate efficiency, low latency and high image quality. The ES7100 operates at bit rates from 6Mbs to 150Mbs with exceptionally robust protection against network errors making it ideal for quality critical applications in broadcast contribution, studio to studio exchange, live event coverage and interactive broadcasts.

The secret behind the ES7100′s class leading performance is Electrosonic’s PURE3 compression codec which has been designed specifically for network transmission. The codec provides exceptional resilience to network errors without the need for forward error correction and provides a constant latency of only 70ms end to end. Image fidelity is further protected by PURE3′s constant image quality through multiple generations. PURE3 technology delivers on the cost savings promise of IP transmission by exceeding many of the performance characteristics of MPEG and JPEG2000 encoders.

The ES7100 can be set on-the-fly for encode or decode operation and provides extensive bit rate management including CBR and PBR bandwidth monitoring for unsurpassed IP network performance. Its light, portable chassis and low power consumption are ideal for mobile applications. The ES7100 can be upgraded from SDI to HD-SDI and even 3G-SDI as your contribution requirements grow. All popular HD formats are supported including 720p, 1080i and 1080p.

The ES71000 is the latest in a rapidly expanding range of Electrosonic broadcast products to meet the emerging need for cost effective global transport of SD and HD broadcast content. The very popular VN-Matrix encoder is also available from Electrosonic for DVI and RGB streaming applications.
