Electro-Voice sound for Crossroads Church, Minn.
Audio Logic Systems of Bloomington, Minn. recently completed a state-of-the-art Electro-Voice installation in the new, 800-seat sanctuary at Crossroads Church in Cottage Grove, Minn. The new system provides a high-performance, cost-effective solution for the Church, who needed a combination of application flexibility for their varied service schedule and rider-friendliness for visiting acts. Jason Kartak, Installation Manager for Audio Logic Systems, explains:
“Crossroads needed a system for exceptional vocal and live performance sound reinforcement that also met their budget requirements. This immediately led me to Electro-Voice and their Xi loudspeakers, which provide really great value. The system design includes four Xi-1153A loudspeakers up front for the mains and three Xi-1122MHA/64s for the delays. We also installed four Xi-1082 loudspeakers for front fills, and two Xsubs for low end beneath the stage.
“Crossroads is a busy, contemporary church, adds Kartak, “and in addition to their weekly services, they also wanted to be able to hold concerts from local and national artists in the sanctuary, which was a big reason we chose the Xi boxes, because they are concert-quality speakers that meet rider specifications very well. They’re a very high-energy, rock ‘n roll church and we gave them all the dynamic headroom they need to sound their best.
CPS 2.11 amplifiers power the main speakers; CPS 2.4 amps handle the front fills. The entire system, including the EVID C4.2 ceiling speakers installed in the church’s lobby and cry room, is controlled by EV’s NetMax digital matrix/DSP platform running IRIS-Net control and supervision software.
“The Xi speakers can handle anything you throw at them, says Kartak, “but the system really gets its flexibility from the NetMax control. System operation is managed by both professional and amateur engineers, so the NetMax system features multiple pages with password lockout and preset cues, as well as zoning presets to differentiate between traditional services and rock environments.
Since the installation, the staff and congregation at Crossroads have had nothing but praise for their new Electro-Voice system: “Crossroads is ecstatic about their new sound, Kartak adds. “The system has met and exceeded their expectations. The sound is so much better than the sound in their previous building – they couldn’t be more pleased.
