Electro-Voice upgrade for Western Washington University

wwu_carver_gym.jpgPro Sound & Communications in Bellingham, Wash. recently installed an Electro-Voice sound system, designed by Thom Mullins at BRC Acoustics Consulting, in Carver Gymnasium at Bellingham’s own Western Washington University (WWU).

Carver Gymnasium at WWU is used for many different applications, including athletic events, lectures, and graduation ceremonies. Depending on the occasion, Carver can seat anywhere from 4,000 to 7,500 people. WWU’s existing system was being stretched to its limits by its myriad applications, so WWU worked with BRC and Pro Sound to design and install an audio solution that could effectively augment its existing system. Both Thom Mullins and Daryl Lazarescu of Pro Sound and Communications decided that Electro-Voice products would provide an ideal solution for the venue.

To extend Carver’s existing system, Mullins designed a cluster of four EV FRX+640 loudspeakers, mounted at the center of the room above the basketball court and powered by CP4000S and CP2200 amplifiers. The gym’s center cluster also includes two FRX+181s powered by CP4000S amps, and is rounded out by three FRi+122 loudspeakers powered by CP2200s. The new system also includes FRi+122s (also powered by CP2200s) for delay speakers. Carver Gym’s entire system is now powered by Electro-Voice amplifiers. WWU has received nothing but compliments for their gym’s new sound. Lazarescu comments:

“The school loves their new system, says Daryl Lazarescu. “They are very happy with both its sound quality and ease of use. They just turn it on and it works reliably for them every time.
