DIG(ICO) FOR VICTORY AS SD8 PROVES A HIT IN DENMARK
With offices in Copenhagen and Viby, near Arhus, Victory Tour Production is one of Denmark’s leading production companies. An inventory of six DiGiCo consoles ensures that the company delivers the very best audio to the wide range of festivals, tours and corporate events it services.
Victory has recently added a pair of DiGiCo SD8 consoles to its rental stock, complementing the D1s and D5s that have been providing sterling service for the last two years.
“We bought our first D5 in the spring of 2007, for a tour that had a D5 on the preferred list of desks, says Victory’s Theis Wermuth.
“We tested it, compared it to the other options and decided that the D5 was the right choice both for the tour and for our hire stock. One of the main things for us was the many ways of ‘designing’ the desk with input / output options, plus it was easy to operate even for engineers who weren’t experienced digital console users.
“The D5 and D1 sound great, they have a small footprint, no outboard is needed and the reliability is excellent. So when we saw the SD8 at last year’s PLASA show, we were naturally very interested.
“We had a meeting with Kim Johansen from Soundware A/S, DiGiCo’s Danish distributor, and he quickly convinced us it was the right way to expand our range of DiGiCo desks!
Once delivered, the SD8s were immediately put to work on live shows and have already proved themselves very popular with the engineers using them.
“The SD8 is a very nice desk and we like everything about it – the user interface, facilities, sound quality and of course the price:facilities ratio is excellent,â€? says Theis. “It’s very straightforward to use. If you spend literally one hour with it in the warehouse, you are ready to go on the road with it.â€?
He continues, “A very cool thing for us is that is that it doesn’t use a local rack as it has the eight mic/line inputs, eight outputs and eight AES ins/outs onboard. The dual cue functionality is also great for monitors when both IEMs and wedges are used.
“In addition, we have the best support from DiGiCo and Kim Johansen is always ready to help with any questions and provides superb support. “
With the SD8s, the D1s and D5s all at the forefront of Victory Tour Productions’ plans for the 2009 festival season, audiences have much to look forward to as Denmark continues to DiG(iCo) For Victory!
