Gefen Wireless for HDMI Extender Sends HDTV up to 10 Meters

CHATSWORTH, CA – Connectivity solutions provider Gefen today announced its UWB (ultra wideband) Wireless for HDMI Extender is shipping.

Ideal for ceiling mounted displays, outside applications and any room where extension cables are unwanted, the Wireless for HDMI Extender sends hi-def resolutions to 1080p (24fps) and 5.1 surround sound up to 10 meters (33-feet) with no cables required.

The sender/receiver system sets up simply, and is compatible with all audio/video sources using the HDMI format including Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, set-top boxes and more. The sender unit supplies two HDMI inputs and a third input for component video with two-channel audio. All three sources deliver video in the HDMI format with the stereo audio passed through in the same two-channel format. Both sender and receiver are powered to drive the wireless signal transmission.

With support for three audio/video sources, the Gefen Wireless for HDMI Extender operates as a source switcher, allowing users to access three sources from the same flat panel display. Users select sources using the IR blaster, the autos switch function or the local selection button on the sender unit.

To increase reliability and performance, this Wireless for HDMI Extender offers built-in interference cancellation to avoid noise from nearby electronics operating in the wireless band, including cell phones and wi-fi networks.

With CEC (Consumer Electronic Control) support, WiMedia Alliance compliance and FCC certification, the Gefen Wireless for HDMI Extender is a high performance solution perfect for eliminating wiring in small venues and single room HDTV applications.
