TV1.EU™ Picks Wowza Media Server® Pro for Flash® Streaming Services with Existing RTP/RTSP dicas Encoders

EVERGREEN, CO, March 24, 2009—Wowza Media Systems announced today that its #1 rated Wowza Media Server® Pro server software has been selected by TV1.EU, Germany’s largest platform for online video technology, to deliver high-performance Flash streaming from existing RTP/RTSP dicas encoders. Only Wowza offers the ability to stream H.264 to Flash from RTP/RTSP encoders, a crucial factor in TV1.EU’s decision to select Wowza.

“Wowza Pro’s unique RTP/RTSP ingest capability integrated seamlessly with our dicas H.264 encoding infrastructure,? said Johann Soukup, CTO, TV1.EU, who has selected the dicas2010 SD encoder for TV1.EU’s live streaming services and conducted the implementation of the dicas H.264 software mpegableDS into TV1.EU’s IP network to do offline encoding one year ago.

“With Wowza Pro and dicas working together, we have streamlined our operations and lowered infrastructure costs, an important achievement which in turn has helped reduce our carbon footprint,? continued Soukup. “Wowza has been an excellent addition to our workflow, and fits perfectly with our charter of being the most ecologically progressive platform for online video technology.?

TV1.EU’s selection of Wowza was apparently not a difficult one. “Wowza has an impressive reputation for industrial-strength performance, scalability, economics and unparalleled support,? added Soukup. “Once we began testing, we quickly grew confident that Wowza could deliver excellent streaming experiences to our customers.?

TV1.EU’s long and impressive list of customers includes the European Commission, EADS, Deutsche Welle and ZDF, along with many other well-known broadcasters, financial institutions and enterprises.

TV1.EU’s deployment comes on the heels of a previous interoperability announcement between Wowza Media Server Pro and dicas’ latest line of hardware SD and HD encoders, which TV1.EU is also planning to deploy.

To see a demonstration of Wowza Media Server Pro with dicas encoders stop by the Wowza booth (#C1362) at NAB, April 20-22, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
