Panamax Announces the New SEP-200 Service Entrance Protector

PETALUMA, Calif. — March 26, 2009 — Panamax, a world-leading provider of AC power management solutions, today announced its new SEP-200 service entrance protector. Intended for installation by professionals as part of a larger whole-house power management protection plan, the SEP-200 protects major appliances from catastrophic surges, including lightning, with a single-point ground at the electrical service panel.

Rated for split/single-phase panels up to 400A, the SEP-200 provides protection from spikes or surges from the main power supply for major appliances, which, due to installation location or amperage requirements, generally cannot be protected by most surge protection solutions. The SEP-200 also includes a neutral wiring option for sub-panel installations for further flexibility.

The SEP-200 is designed to operate autonomously to protect electrical service panels, allowing users to feel secure knowing that their main electrical panel and connected major appliances will be protected from damage in case of an overvoltage.

“Our SEP-200 greatly reduces the high cost of replacing major appliances that could be damaged in the event a surge travels through the electrical panel,” said Dave Keller, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Panamax and Furman. “The SEP-200 can operate independently to protect the service panel; however, because modern homes often generate internal voltage transients, the SEP-200 is designed to be part of a larger household power management plan that includes Panamax point-of-use protectors for all electronic components in the home.”

The SEP-200 offers a compact chassis and easy installation. The unit meets UL 1449 3rd Edition standards (6,000V/3,000A) and features a nominal discharge rating of 20,000A.

The SEP-200 is now available at an MSRP of $249.95.
