AVIOM EXPANDS TRAINING PROGRAM WITH NEW MONTHLY WEBCASTS

WEST CHESTER, PA, MARCH 20, 2009—Aviom, exclusive developer of the world’s most powerful audio transport technology, A-Net®, has expanded its Applications & Technical Training Program. The initiative was originally launched last summer, and this year, the company has significantly expanded the program to include multiple interactive webcast sessions each month. Since the beginning of this year, the company has been hosting five or more of these sessions per month. The new expanded initiative features two training programs: one set of sessions designed for contractors, consultants, and other audio professionals and a second set designed specifically for end users. more

Tony Rossello Named Senior Account Rep At Scharff Weisberg

TonyTony Rossello, who has been Senior Event Manager at Scharff Weisberg for the last nine years, has been named to the position of Senior Account Representative, announced Josh Weisberg. In his new role Rossello will be charged with developing business for the company’s video and audio concerns and serving as the primary sales contact for those markets, as well as continuing to partner with current clients to meet their AV needs.

In the last year, Scharff Weisberg has successfully supported numerous large jobs including many inauguration-related events, big museum installations, high-profile television and Broadway shows, as well as large and small special events and corporate meetings. Also, in the past two years, the company has effectively combined interests with Video Applications in California and added a significant number of management staff to its roster. more

AKG Products On Display At Current Tina Turner World Tour

tinaturner.jpgOn Tina Turner’s current world tour, sound engineer Dave Natale deployed AKG C214 microphones as well as a WMS4500 wireless system to provide outstanding audio quality and versatility on stage. Natale initially tested the C214 mic on a sound check in AKG’s hometown of Vienna, Austria and immediately began using the mic on the current tour.

Dave Natale is no stranger to working with some of the world’s biggest stars, including The Rolling Stones, Lionel Richie, Liza Minelli, Joe Cocker, Van Halen as well as engineer for the 1998 Grammy Awards. On the current Tina Turner tour, Tina, Live in Concert, Europe and the US, Natale fell in love with the wide range of capabilities of the C214. more

Tilt Angle Balancing Act-Polar Focus Designs Two Tiered Cluster For Chicago Auditorium

Advanced Audio and Lighting of Peoria, Illinois was awarded the job of installing a new sound reinforcement system in Torrey-Gray Auditorium at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. The system would need to handle spoken word, live music and recorded music. After MBI was presented with several ways to go, the choice was made to use four speakers from the Synergy Horn line manufactured by Danley Soundlabs. All four would be rigged in a center cluster, with one pair over the other. more

Hadley Massachusetts based Polar Focus Audio Rigging recently provided a custom rigging design for installation at the St. John Chrysostom Church in Wallingford, Pennsylvania. The scope of Polar Focus’ work was the complete transition from the attachment to the roof structure down to the hardware that attaches to the loudspeakers, using standard Polar Focus parts put together in a custom design. Broomall, Pennsylvania’s Audio Video Systems Group, a division of Hi Fi House Group, was the installing contractor. more

Although he typically pairs them with an analog console to provide outboard processing or with a digital mixer to add routing and submixing capabilities, the flexibility and reliability of Metric Halo’s 2d and v5 upgrades have begun to change that protocol. More and more, Devino finds himself deploying the Mobile I/O 2882s as standalone, computer-operated mixing systems. more
