Aurora Multimedia’s Control Solutions Help Colorado’s Radiant Church Bring Message to Over 1000 Members in Renovated Facility

MORGANVILLE, N.J. ― April 7, 2009 ― Aurora Multimedia today announced that Radiant Church in Colorado Springs, Colo., is using the company’s WACI NX+™ control system, WACI-PAD control panel, and IBZ-1041W wireless touch panel in its newly renovated facility. Installed by Cincinnati-based Worship Resources, a church A/V specialist, Aurora’s control solutions are providing video switching between multiple projectors, cameras, monitors, and feeds for digital signage.

“Like many houses of worship, Radiant Church wanted to embrace technology to better engage its members in the church community and to help spread its message,” said Tom Rutledge, owner of Worship Resources. “Radiant Church has more than 1,000 members, and a key way to reach them is through multimedia. To achieve this, the church’s recent renovation included an updated A/V system and digital signage displays located throughout the facility.”

Previously, Radiant Church was using one projector at the front of its worship center and one at the rear, with digital switching performed manually. For the renovation, Worship Resources added two more projectors and monitors at the front of the worship center, and replaced the projector in the back. Digital signage displays were added in the lobby and in the church’s Mission Café coffee shop. For automated control of the video switching functions between the multiple projectors, cameras, and remote matrix feeds for the digital signage displays, Worship Resources utilized Aurora’s WACI NX+ control system, WACI-PAD control panel, and IBZ-1041W wireless touch panel.

Aurora’s WACI NX+ non-proprietary IP control system is accessed through any Web browser running on a wired or wireless Ethernet network. Numerous RS232/422/485, IR, relay, and DSP control ports are available, and a robust IR learner is standard. Each WACI unit contains its own resources, preventing slow performance and bottlenecks caused by shared systems. It offers a wide range of OS compatibility for truly platform-independent functionality, and its server-side operation means that no dedicated server is required and no special applications need to be installed on the PC to access the WACI control system.

The WACI-PAD is a unique button panel available in six- and 12-button versions that provides a comfortable, tactile, and graphical user experience. The buttons use tiny display technology to provide multiple levels of interaction using accompanying software. Each button has the ability to morph into other buttons based on button presses or events taking place in the system. In addition, there is a built-in Web server for remote IP control. With the built-in IR and serial ports, the WACI-PAD is the most innovative and functional control interface in the industry today.

The IBZ-1041W is a 10.4-inch wireless touch panel with the power to handle many applications. This panel is a thin client tablet PC that is compatible with most browser-based IP control systems. Unlike most products in its class, the IBZ-1041W has the ability to run Macromedia® Flash® movies, which are the most popular format for touch panel interfaces.

“We chose Aurora equipment for Radiant Church because it has the flexibility to function as a control device for video mixing and switching,” added Rutledge. “Not only are Aurora’s control systems and panels easy to integrate into any system, but they also allow us to create our own look and feel for the graphic user interfaces. Radiant Church has been very happy with the results and their new system’s ease of use.”
