A.C.T Lighting’s DistroTECH Hoist Controllers Find A Home In Boston’s New House Of Blues

distroWhen Boston’s new House of Blues (HOB) was built out, equipment integrator Bandit chose DistroTECH 12-channel hoist controllers from A.C.T Lighting as part of the cable package it installed.

Located across the street from Fenway Park, the new HOB is a former nightclub, which occupied two buildings. One building was torn down and rebuilt from the ground up; the remaining building houses HOB’s restaurant.

“About three months before opening, House of Blues decided to reuse gear from the former club but needed new chain motors, cable and gear,” says Chris Barbee, sales and design associate with Bandit. “They were concerned about working cost effectively while maintaining a high level of quality. We had seen A.C.T’s DistroTECH systems at LDI and were really impressed by how they were built. We thought they would be a perfect fit in terms of size and price.”

remoteA.C.T’s DistroTECH product line provides power and control for electric chain hoists. Among the many features are cam feed through with double neutral standard Airpax Switch-rated hydraulic magnetic circuit breakers, dual microprocessor design, front-panel input phrase indicators, and phase reverse switch. The product also has a handheld remote with 50-foot cable which offers individual “Bump” pushbuttons, automatic shutdown if the remote disconnects, and motor direction LEDs.

The systems come in ATA rolling rack cases with stacking cups; for permanent installations wall-mounted versions are available.

Since installing DistroTECH “everyone has been pleased with the gear and the support we’ve received from A.C.T,” Barbee notes. “They’re really happy with how DistroTECH is working out.”
