MEDIALON animates outdoor and indoor façades of the new Danmarks Radio Concert Hall
Danmarks Radio, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, has recently inaugurated its new Concert Hall designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel in Ørestaden near Copenhagen.

The Danmarks Radio Concert Hall welcomes operas, classical, jazz, pop and rock venues.
Informationsteknik Scandinavia, the technical and main creative supplier for the project, selected Medialon to be the unique AV control system for the exterior and indoor illuminations.
The building’s 14,000 square meter exterior and indoor façades are lightened up by impressive lighting and artistic projections.

Two Medialon Manager V5 PRO licenses control, trough Kissbox DMX network, a total of twenty four Martin Exterior 1200 gobos-lights as well as twelve Panasonic Image video projectors, used to project animated images and lighting effects onto the architecture with a variety of customized textures, colors and moving effects.
Being user friendly, Medialon Manager software allows easy control and changes of the video content displayed on the exterior façade and match it with the music being performed inside via several Dataton Watchout PCs. Lights are also synchronized by Medialon when video content changes. Designers, artists and technicians are then able to create something much more sophisticated and exciting than with paint, static lighting or banners.
One Medialon Scheduler has also been integrated and is used as the main user interface so the Danmarks Radio can administrate and control what should be displayed inside and outside the concert hall.

Medialon also interfaces the regular house lighting control system through Kissbox I/O.
“I’m convinced that the façade’s art projection will draw the attention of citizens and tourists alike, and will act as an appetizer for activities within the Concert Hall, says Niels Bull Klarskov, Division Manager at Informationsteknik.
“Our project together with Atelier Jean Nouvel and the Danmarks Radio is a break through within indoor and outdoor Architectural Lightning in the Nordic Area. From our knowledge it is the first time that projector technology from Martin and Panasonic is used in this magnitude to create images and expressions on a building – It is a truly not a “prêt à porterâ€? projectâ€?, concludes HÃ¥kan Hansson, Informationsteknik CEO.
