Orlando, FL––The new ASX floor-mounted active installation subwoofer that will be on display at Martin Audio’s demo room (#W202C) during InfoComm ’09 is fully capable of producing the highest SPL ever from a single low frequency enclosure housing a single drive unit.

The massive ASX enclosure––(W) 46.85″ x (H) 23.62″ x (D) 46.85″––houses a patented 21â€? transducer, Class D amplifier with 8.5kW peak power, and full DSP, revolutionizing ultra-efficient, low frequency sound reproduction.

Combining the transducer, amplifier and DSP doubles the output capability of a conventionally driven loudspeaker driver of the same size. When incorporated into a Martin Audio Hybrid® horn design, the complete system can deliver an unsurpassed 152dB peak output (measured) from a single enclosure. This is typically greater than what can be achieved by two 2 x 18″ conventionally driven, reflex subwoofers.

In addition, Martin Audio’s adaptive control loop technology maintains linearity up to the maximum output level and power compression is virtually eliminated. Designed for premium club installations, stadiums (and for special effects in theme parks) the dynamic, low distortion sonic signature of the ASX at full power has to be experienced to be believed.

Key features include a Hybrid® large folded horn and ported design (-3dB @ 30Hz); a single 21″/6″ voice coil driver with 2.4″ peak-to-peak excursion; a switched mode power supply with PFC (Power Factor Correction) and global mains voltage operation; on-board DSP providing delay, EQ and filtering as well as amplifier and driver excursion limiting, and a PC based software application for parameter configuration.
