South San Francisco, CA – SP Controls will show the company’s new PixiePlus AV device controller at InfoComm booth 4971. The PixiePlus is an inexpensive, intuitive control system that mounts into a single-gang wall box with a DecoraTM form factor. It provides up to eight control buttons and is customizable by the user. Control of projectors, DVD players and other devices is made simple for users, according to the company, and eliminates the need for remotes.

The PixiePlus provides a simple, standardized control interface for projectors, monitors, display devices or other AV devices. It has one serial port and one IR port (multiple emitters can be linked so that multiple serial devices or multiple IR devices could be controlled in parallel). IR can be learned and replicated through the unit’s onboard learning algorithm. Serial control requires a separate programming tool to enter RS-232 codes. It also can send a ‘power off’ command to the system after a certain period of inactivity, and has a socket for a real-time clock module (for implementing scheduled events).

The company says the PixiePlus addresses the needs of users who want more functionality in a control system while still maintaining simplicity. “It enables more advanced operational features that are transparent to the average user, so there’s no perceived complexity or frustration with understanding the control system,” says Gary Arcudi, SP Controls Director of Marketing.
