SHARING THE GIFT OF MUSIC WITH THE CHILDREN OF ATHENS

The New Boys and Girl’s Club of Athens has a recording studio designed and installed by TSAV

(Athens, GA) May. 19, 2009 –The Boys and Girl’s Club of Athens, Georgia opened its doors to the Athens community for the first time on May 19th, to the praise of local government officials and Clarke County citizens. The brand new 4.6 million dollar complex was built with private funding, and houses a gymnasium, pool and foosball tables as well as a seating area with flat screen televisions. But if you ask any of the Boys and Girl’s Club staff they will tell you the real gem in the new Boys and Girl’s Club is the recording studio.
The studio, designed and installed free of charge by Technical Services Audio Visual (TSAV) of Athens, Georgia, will allow the children of the Boys and Girl’s Club the chance to record and express themselves through music. The Boys and Girls Club studio has everything a professional recording studio would have: Drum set, bass guitars, guitars, amps, keyboards, and microphones. TSAV provided all the essential equipment and software necessary to record and edit the children’s music. Peter Dugas, owner and president of TSAV, is a lifelong music lover and knows the importance music can play in a person’s life. “We wanted to give back to the community in a way that would continue to help down the road. Some of these kids may grow up and pursue music because of the studio we put in the Boys and Girl’s Club. A kid may discover a talent they never knew existed in them.? TSAV has always been a philanthropic company, taking the lead in raising money for the Athens Clarke County Annual Forth of July fireworks display last year, and again this year after the city government cut the event’s funding. Mr. Dugas hopes to bring professional recording engineers to teach the kids how to use all of the equipment, and get them comfortable with the process so that they can create their own music and art.
In a music town like Athens, GA it is only fitting that the Boys and Girl’s Club has a recording studio. Because of Peter Dugas and TSAV, the children of the Athens’ Boys and Girl’s Club can begin making music and add their sounds to those already being made around town.
