California church upgrades with EV’s Phoenix loudspeakers

crosswordchurch_2009_001.jpgCrossword Christian Church in Riverside, Calif. recently upgraded its sound system on a massive scale, replacing the systems in its sanctuary, courtyard, and children’s wing with an assortment of Electro-Voice equipment from CBC Technical, Inc. (Murrieta, Calif.).

Crossword’s new sanctuary system comprises five Phoenix PX2152 boxes in a flown left-center-right configuration (including a central cluster of three) with two Phoenix PX2181 subs on the ground at stage left and right, with Dynacord VL262s compact double-six-inch, two-way loudspeakers as delays. The system is powered by EV’s CP4000S amplifiers. Chris Batchelor, Sales Manager for CBC, comments:

“This is a Gospel church, and the system they had in there could not keep up with the volume they required. We came to the conclusion that Phoenix was the best option to get the SPL that the church was looking for, with dual drivers more

iupui_july09_001.jpgGeorge P. Miller Stadium, home of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) (Indiana, Pa.) Crimson Hawks, recently received an upgrade to its sound system with Electro-Voice Sx series loudspeakers provided by Edward Simon & Co (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and installed by Doug Varner Sound Company.

Edward Simon & Co., commercial AV systems specialists for nearly 35 years, has performed more than 700 design/installations at stadiums, arenas, shopping malls, and TV studios, resulting in a résumé that reads like a who’s-who of some of the United States’ most recognizable venues, including Jacobs Field, Verizon Center, Mellon Arena, Nationwide Arena, Heinz Field, and Gund Arena. Though relatively small in comparison, the new EV sound system at 6,500-seat George P. Miller Stadium demonstrates that precise audio coverage and intelligibility can be scaled to installations of all shapes and sizes, given the right equipment. Ed Simon, owner of Edward more

Scharff Weisberg Helps New York City Lites Create A Memorable 4th Of July With Legendary Fireboat

FireboatThe historic mingled with the spectacular on the 4th of July when Scharff Weisberg supported New York City Lites, which designed an innovative lighting show on the Hudson River for Duchess County Tourism.

This year marks the quadricentennial (Hudson 400) of the European founding of New York’s Hudson River Valley by Dutch explorer Henry Hudson. When Duchess County Tourism wanted something beyond fireworks to celebrate the 4th of July, it seized on the idea of devising a show around the John J. Harvey, one of the most powerful fireboats ever in service. Built in 1931 and now retired, although it was briefly reinstated on September 11, 2001, the John J. Harvey is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was recently part of the Great River Day Flotilla of vessels sailing upriver on the Hudson from the Statue of Liberty to Albany.
