Compix at IBC2009:

CYNERG2 Character Generator
First unveiled at NAB 2009, and garnering the prestigious Pick Hit award, the new Compix CynerG2 will launch to international audiences this year at IBC in Amsterdam. CynerG2 is a broadcast-quality, dual-channel HD CG with unrivalled price/performance for the broadcast, sports, professional, educational, and government markets. Capable of simultaneously outputting graphics in either SD-SDI or HD-SDI, Compix’s new dual-channel CynerG2 packs a powerful punch into a conveniently sized 4-RU chassis.

CynerG2 has the inherent advantage of branding multiple video streams with different overlay material from a single chassis and one easy-to-use interface. Rather than invest in two separate CG systems, users can apply the CynerG2 to two different functions at once, saving both time and money. Additionally, because the data required to create and playback graphics can be used between the product’s two internal systems, users need only maintain one set of graphics data. Dedicated logo insertion, EAS message generation, and automated template-based sports score generation are also features supported by the CynerG2.

COMPACTCG
Also making its international debut is the company’s CompactCG, a portable CG that offers the specs and rich feature set of a full-size system in a rugged 1-RU chassis. Purpose-built for mobile broadcast and OB vans, flypack systems, multivenue use, and other space-constrained applications, the CompactCG is an affordable stand-alone system that leverages the power of Compix’s industry leading CG systems.

The CompactCG is both easy to install and easy to use, providing automated template-based graphics generation and real-time graphics overlay of live video in analog or SD-SDI productions. Like all other Compix CG solutions, the CompactCG supports 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios, Windows® IME (input method editor) multiple language settings, and True Type fonts, enabling true multilingual support and unlimited font styles. The CompactCG meets SD-SDI and analog composite NTSC and PAL specifications, including ITU-R BT.470-6 with embedded audio pass-through, and EIA-608b closed captioning compatibility.

The new portable CG from Compix is ideal for channel-branding applications, with software options including NewsScroll with RSS, which provides the power of multiple crawls, logos, a real-time clock, live weather updates, ratings, live RSS feeds, and more. Compix offers the new CG in two configurations: CompactCG SD-SDI and CompactCG Analog. The CompactCG SD-SDI is a single-channel system with video and key, as well as input video overlay. The CompactCG Analog is a single-channel SD system that provides a composite NTSC and PAL and component analog broadcast-quality input and output, with video and key, plus internal video overlay. Both configurations can be used with or without a video switcher, and each includes an input video mechanical bypass relay to ensure signal integrity even if power to the unit is lost.

Compix OEM Board & Software Kit
Designed for OEM partners worldwide, Compix OEM Board & Software Kits can be added to any user-provided, high-performance Windows®-based personal computer to create a complete, world class, character generator system. The Compix OEM Board & Software Kits generate broadcast-quality HD-SDI, HD-Ready, SD-SDI, and analog graphics. The standard-definition products can operate seamlessly in both NTSC and PAL video systems. Compix OEM Board & Software Kits also use the Windows IME (input method editor) multiple language capability, and support unlimited True Type fonts, making the Compix OEM Board & Software Kits conversant in any language or character set.

The Compix OEM Board & Software Kits are also well suited for bulletin board applications, traditional character generator systems, and digital signage installations. Compix OEM Board & Software Kits provide broadcast-quality “live to on-air” capabilities featuring broadcast play-to-air operational logic, allowing a user to change quickly and accurately data that is on the air, and at the same time modifying prebuilt graphics and make them ready for air. It can also be used in a post production environment, inserting characters over off-line edited video streams.

With built-in downstream linear alpha keying, 256 transparency levels, titles, or directly imported graphics can be mixed in live over incoming video on all Compix CG systems. The Compix OEM Board & Software Kits can be utilized in installations with or without an expensive video switcher. Additional Compix software products may also be added to Compix OEM Board & Software Kits at any time, including NewsScroll, the crawl, ticker, logo time and temp application, and AutoCast, the template-based automated data entry and playback application.
