Compix Names Technology Veteran Young Soo Lee to Manage Sales for Asia-Pacific
IRVINE, Calif. — Sept. 8, 2009 — Compix, a leading developer of broadcast-quality character generators (CGs), announced today the appointment of Young Soo Lee as executive director of sales for the Asia-Pacific region. Lee comes to Compix after serving as executive director of sales and chief technology officer for Korea’s Sion Media. He will be at IBC2009 with his new Compix colleagues on Stand 8.A98, where the company is exhibiting with partner Apantac LLC.
At Compix, Lee’s responsibilities will include developing, supporting, and managing sales initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region and fostering continued expansion of the company’s business into new as well as existing markets. He will be based in Seoul, South Korea and will report to Veronica Kim, Compix vice president.
“Young Soo is well-known and respected in the Asian technology industry, having worked closely with many of the region’s best-known brands and companies, including Korean Broadcasting Systems, MBC, and SBS,” said Kim. “He also played a key part in supporting project integration for the Busan World Cup in 2002. His experience, dedication, and integrity make him an ideal fit at Compix. Bringing him aboard demonstrates the company’s continued commitment to its customers — present and future — throughout the Asia-Pacific marketplace.”
A graduate of Kwangwoon University with a degree in electrical engineering, Lee has more than 30 years of management experience specifically relating to the communications and broadcast markets. Prior to Sion Media, where he was responsible for managing marketing for lines such as Grass Valleyâ„¢, Snell (formerly Pro-Bel), Chyron, 360 Systems®, and JVC, Lee worked for seven years as director of technology at CTS TV (Christian Television System) in Korea. An acknowledged authority in the industry, Lee has also translated technical works from English to Korean, including “Digital Broadcast System Design.”
“Compix is an outstanding name in the Asian market for feature-packed, innovative CG products that suit a wide variety of media settings,” said Lee. “My goal is to play a significant role in strengthening the company’s reputation as well as expanding it to a broadening base of customers throughout the fast-growing Asia-Pacific market.”
