NEW YORK: An enduring commitment to education has earned Audio Engineering Conventions a reputation for being not just student friendly, but student indispensable. Scheduled for Oct. 9-12 at NY’s Javits Center, the 127th AES Convention will offer another outstanding program of Student Events. Convention Chair Dr. Agnieszka Roginska reports that, “Education Committee Chair, Alex Case; SDA Chair, North & Latin America, Teri Grossheim and our other Education Committee members have pooled their extensive resources to develop one of the most comprehensive programs in AES history. While MTV’s Video Music Awards (VMAs) lit up the TV screens of millions of households on September 13, Coemar lighting fixtures were dazzling guests attending the live show at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall. Lighting designer Tom Kenny utilized an extensive package of Coemar Infinity Wash XLs, Infinity ACLs and ParLite LEDs provided by Scharff Weisberg Lighting for the event.

“An awards show of that size and pressure is like going into battle in the trenches,” Kenny reports. “In New York everybody thinks they know how to be the mayor, the president of the United States and the lighting designer of the VMAs. You just have to hold your ground and do your show.” more
