Harkness Screens Perlux 180 Takes Center Stage at ShowEast 2009

ORLANDO, FL – Harkness Screens (Booth 718), the world’s leading manufacturer of projection screens for cinema applications, will once again take center stage at ShowEast’s 2009 premier presentation venue, the AMC Pleasure Island 24. The two theaters used at the multiplex will feature 34′ by 70′ Perlux 180 screens. Harkness Screens have been used at ShowEast since 2005.

ShowEast is the only major convention and trade show for the cinema exhibition and distribution community on the East Coast. Cinema Exhibition professionals come to ShowEast for advanced film screenings of major studio and independent feature films slated for holiday release as well as product reel presentations, exciting special events with Hollywood’s hottest stars, educational seminars and to find the latest products, services and technologies in the industry today.

Some of the films that will be presented during this year’s ShowEast include, Paramount Pictures’ “Up In The Air,” Lionsgate’s “Daybreakers” and “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire,” Warner Brother’s Pictures’ “The Blind Side” and Apparition’s “The Young Victoria.”

Harkness’ Perlux screens are considered by leading cinema exhibitors worldwide to be the premier gain projection surface. The Perlux line of screens, available in three levels of gain (1.4, 1.8, and 2.2), provides high contrast, bright pictures, generous viewing angles and excellent colour temperature. While all Perlux gain screens can reduce lamp power requirements, and thus save on operating costs, the Perlux 180 is a high-gain option specifically designed for larger auditoria. All Perlux screens provide excellent images with 2D projection and are also recommended for ‘active’ (shutter eyewear) 3D systems and ‘passive’ systems not using polarized light to overcome light losses inherent in 3D projection.

“We are very grateful to Harkness Screens for their generous contributions to all our shows all around the world,” says Robert Sunshine, managing director of ShowEast. Their Perlux screens help us deliver an excellent picture for our delegates at ShowEast and are a major part of the tremendous presentation we are able to achieve at the AMC Pleasure Island theatre. We could not ask for a better partner than our friend at Harkness.”

ShowEast 2009 will be held October 26-29 at the Orlando World Center Marriott and is expected to draw more than 1,300 members of the motion picture industry. ShowEast attracts cinema exhibition and distribution professionals from the United States as well as the Latin, South American and Caribbean markets from 37 countries.
