Vibrant Design’s Christopher Landy Begins Third Season As Lighting Designer on VH1 Classic’s “THAT METAL SHOW”
“THAT METAL SHOW,” the Saturday-night show on VH1 Classic that discusses and debates all things hard rock and heavy metal, has returned for its third season and so has lighting designer Christopher Landy of Brooklyn-based Vibrant Design LLC.
VH1 Classic often calls on Vibrant to light series and specials. Landy has been involved with “THAT METAL SHOW,” from its inception. “The show has been a runaway hit,” he notes, “and we’re back in production with nine new episodes.” Season three reunites hosts Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine and Don Jamieson with such guests as the Canadian heavy metal band Anvil, Rob Halford , WWE’s Chris Jericho, Steve Vai, and Peter Criss.
“The vibe of the set is like a Gothic living room,” reports show producer Jeff Baumgardner. “It’s a sanctuary, where the gods of metal can feel entirely at home. We steered away from an ’80′s-style set and took the look in an entirely different direction.”
Baumgardner says, “I always look forward to collaborating with Chris. He’s an absolute pleasure to work with and hires the best people for his team. Chris really created the mood we wanted for ‘THAT METAL SHOW’ viewers and guests.”
Landy assembled a conservative package of conventional lighting fixtures for the set, including six 2K Softlights; 16 2K, one 5K, 16 1K, six 650-watt and four 300-watt fresnels; 32 ETC Source Four Lekos 575-watt; 16 ETC Source Four PARs 575-watt; and six 75-watt Birdies.
“THAT METAL SHOW’s” third season was directed by Adam Heydt and Julie LoRusso. Lee Rolontz and Keshia Williams executive produced for VH1.
