SENCORE Adds Features to Portable MP500 HDMI Test Tool

Enhancements Make Unique MP500 MediaPro Faster and More Effective at Troubleshooting HDMI-Based A/V Systems

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Feb. 1, 2010 — SENCORE, an engineering leader in high-quality signal transmission, today announced it has added enhancements to its powerful MP500 MediaPro handheld generator and HDMI analyzer that make it even faster and more effective at optimizing operation of complex HDMI-based audio/video systems.

New features include Cable Test, which uses pseudo-random noise to test HDMI distribution paths for bit errors, determining whether a problem is caused by the source, cable, display, or repeater. Cable Test makes it fast and easy to find formerly elusive problems in the HDMI system’s cables and devices, potentially saving an installer many hours of tedious cable-by-cable or device-by-device testing.

A further MP500 MediaPro enhancement is an expansion of the pattern generator to accommodate multichannel HDMI audio systems and to provide the patterns required for room acoustic measurement and analysis, including pink noise, impulse, polarity, and sine waves. In addition, SENCORE has enhanced the MP500 with the addition of numerous new, unique static video patterns and a motion zone plate pattern for detecting video artifacts during video installations, and the flexibility to import custom test patterns (bitmaps) or an optional set of new ISF-approved test patterns.

“Thanks to its new features, the MP500 MediaPro makes it even easier for an installer to ensure that the viewer enjoys the full benefit of his HDMI A/V system,” said Tom Stingley, SENCORE’s executive vice president of sales and marketing. “With its advanced testing capabilities, the MP500 supports optimal picture and sound quality. At the same time, its use makes it easier for the installer to avoid resorting to analog component distribution, which robs the consumer of HDMI operational pluses, including the ability to keep pace with future technology upgrades.”

The SENCORE MP500 MediaPro provides multiformat and multiresolution audio/video signal generation and HDMI analysis in an attractively priced, portable package with an easy-to-use, color touch-screen interface. Lightweight, portable, and battery-powered, the MP500 is the one and only device of its kind on the market. For a complete list of features, visit www.sencore.com/products/video-generators/177.
