LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, APRIL 12, 2010 — Gepco International (Booth C5643), an industry leader in professional audio and video interconnect products, is pleased to introduce the HMP8 Modular Hybrid Fiber & Triax Panel, as well as its terminated and loaded breakout rack version, the HMP8-Bxx SMPTE 304M Breakout Rack, at the NAB Show April 12 – 15, 2010. Commonly used for machine room patching of multiple camera positions to available camera control units (CCU), the HMP8 and HMP8-Bxx provide an expandable breakout system or patching solution with up to eight breakout positions in a 2RU frame. Featuring an angled front panel to reduce cable bend radius, both the HMP8 and HMP8-Bxx utilize nonconductive plastic HMP8 connector modules to provide electrical isolation.

With the HMP8 modular panel system, up to eight triax and/or hybrid fiber connectors can be mounted in various combinations to completely customize the interface panel for each system. The nonconductive plastic HMP8 modules are available in five types, which include SMPTE 304M (universal), Neutrik® opticalCON®, ADC® ProAx® (plug and jack) and blank versions. Unused positions are filled with blank modules that can later be removed and expanded with additional triax or hybrid fiber connectors. For further customization, optional rear cable management breakout or lacing bar panels can be attached to the HMP8 frame to provide additional security and strain relief for hybrid fiber pigtail breakout cables.

The HMP8-Bxx is a completely terminated and loaded breakout rack version of the HMP8. Positions are loaded with factory terminated SMPTE 304M plug or socket connectors with each broken out externally to separate fiber and electrical connectors on the rear of the panel attachment. To provide rugged external connector interfacing, the HMP8-Bxx utilizes ST fiber and metal circular, five-pin electrical connectors. These connector breakout formats can be easily terminated without the need for specialized hybrid tooling. As with the HMP8, unused positions are filled with blank modules that can later be removed and expanded with additional connectors.

“Both the HMP8 modular panel system and its HMP8-Bxx breakout rack version allow the flexibility to expand your system at a later date, while the HMP8 modular panel system provides the added ability to incorporate different types of connectors within the same panel making it completely configurable,? says Joe Zajac, Manager, Gepco® Brand Product Engineering & Operations.
