XpanD Brings Discovery Communications’ 3D Visions To Life in Series of Advertiser Presentations

XpanD, the world’s leading developer of active 3D technology systems for cinema, television and gaming applications, has partnered with Discovery Communications to showcase its new 24-hour 3D channel venture at presentations to advertisers in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles this spring.

XpanD supplied more than 1,300 active glasses and 3D setups for use at the events, which conclude with a breathtaking display of the future of the company’s 3D service. Blu Laser Digital, LLC (www.blulaserdigital.com ) with offices in Gilbert, Arizona and Hollywood, California, is providing production services for each event.

“As 3D becomes more ubiquitous, XpanD takes great pride in helping Discovery debut, for the first time ever, a glimpse at its new 3D channel,? said Maria Costeira, CEO of XpanD. “We have never been so close to gaining the full spectrum of vision and depth of such quality programs as Discovery’s, until now.?

“XpanD’s technology provides our presentation attendees with the optimal viewing experience for the ‘sneak peek’ look at the first 24/7 3D network, coming in 2011,? added David Shackley, senior vice president of creative, Discovery Communications.

Discovery Communications announced in January plans to establish the first 24/7 dedicated 3D television network in the U.S., in partnership with Sony and IMAX.

XpanD produces the world’s most efficient active 3D glasses, which allow each eye to individually focus on the overlapping visuals on the television. The unnoticeable alternating coverage of each eye results in the viewers’ ultimate 3D perspective. “This partnership with Discovery is only the tip of the iceberg for in-home 3D entertainment,? said XpanD Chief Strategy Officer Ami Dror. “As we continue to develop our technology and more broadcasting companies begin to televise their 3D content, interest in 3D will increase tremendously. Discovery is leading the way in 24/7 3D television and XpanD offers the best technology to help drive this innovation.?
