Harris Corporation Diversifies Distributed Audio Options for Radio Broadcast Studios of All Sizes

New Systems in PR&E® VistaMax™ Lower the Cost of Studio and Automation System Integration

LAS VEGAS, April 11, 2010 (NAB Show, Booth N2502) — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, introduces a range of PR&E® studio products that deliver low-cost, distributed audio options for radio broadcasters. The new offer represents growing diversity and innovation within the PR&E® VistaMax™ family of audio management systems.

The VistaMax audio management system has long been the centerpiece of the PR&E range of studio systems and consoles. It offers a networked audio platform for larger, centralized studio facilities — tying multiple access points together.

At the 2010 NAB Show, Harris announces the immediate availability of three new VistaMax systems that provide entry-point audio networking and/or lower the cost of studio and automation system integration:

VMConnect™: Provides the easiest means of networking consoles and other VistaMax devices through local I/O (input/output) sharing. Establishes a low-cost distribution audio access model for up to 12 studios and enhances control between each networked device.
VMXpress™: Delivers distributed I/O (16 or 32 inputs/outputs) at the lowest competitive entry point. Provides an ideal audio and logic access point from anywhere in the studio with minimal cable requirements. It’s ideal for point-to-point applications.
VMQuadra™: Provides an elegant interface between VistaMax digital studio networks and radio automation systems. It’s an ideal foundation for new media workflows in the studio. Provides up to four stereo inputs and outputs each for up to four automation computers.
“The expanded VistaMax range empowers smaller studio facilities and operations that previously found distributed audio access models cost-prohibitive,? said Ted Staros, director of PR&E digital studio solutions, Harris Broadcast Communications. “Larger installations with pre-existing centralized facilities or non-networked gear will still find that the classic VistaMax frame offers the best value, but these new systems provide better options for modest to moderate installations.?

Recently introduced VistaMax workflow software applications further empower operators in on-air and production studios, while also providing orderly control and status across a spectrum of user profiles. VistaVue™ software simplifies operation of the VistaMax network by allowing changes at the desktop instead of the technical core area. It provides a choice of two user interfaces and flexible access rights that can be defined for each user. Individual and community macros provide one-click routing changes and supplement scheduled and automated macros available through VistaTouch™ software.

Harris Broadcast Communications offers products, systems and services that provide interoperable workflow solutions for broadcast, cable, satellite and out-of-home networks. The Harris ONE™ solution brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that enable advanced media workflows for emerging content delivery business models.
