Dugan D-2 and D-3 Combine Three Automatic Mixing Technologies for Transparent Microphone Mixing

Dugan Model D-2 Automatic Mixing Controller

Las Vegas, NV, InfoComm booth N2070 — Dan Dugan Sound Design will demonstrate the Model D-2 and D-3 Automatic Mixing Controllers at InfoComm 2010. Designed for a wide range of applications, these products incorporate three Dugan-patented technologies: the Dugan Speech Systemâ„¢, which automatically manages any number of live microphones in unscripted talking situations; the Dugan Music Systemâ„¢, which offers automatic downward expansion to help reduce feedback and noise pick-up in live performance venues, and the Dugan Gain Limiting Systemâ„¢, which provides a continuous NOM (number of open mics) master gain adjusting system to prevent feedback and ambient noise build-up.

“The combination of these three technologies make the D-2 and D-3 unique tools for broadcasting, sound reinforcement, recording, teleconferencing, distance learning and live performance, said Dan Dugan. “With Dugan automatic mixing technologies, users eliminate cueing mistakes and late fade- ups; mixing of live mics is transparent.

The Model D-2, offering analog I/O, and D-3 with AES digital I/O patch into the insert points of an audio mixing console. Both products identify talkers and make fast, seamless cross-fades. “The Dugan Speech System is particularly appreciated for its continuous ambience, which always sounds like one open mic in the room no matter how many mics are being mixed, said Dugan. Additional functions of the products include hard-wire bypass of individual channels, a programmable preset for returning to a normal setup, and a programmable override mode that can be used to help the chairperson quash unruly debate.
