The vision of Trinity Lutheran Church, located in Villa Park, Illinois, is to be a growing and caring congregation, especially nurturing and supporting their church family and to provide worship, education, fellowship and outreach opportunities to encounter Christ in daily living. To fulfill part of this vision Trinity Lutheran conducts educational classes for every demographic of the congregation, organizes group activities and conducts various ministries. With so many activities available building participation levels is an important goal because it results in a more involved congregation which is healthy for both the church and the parishioners that participate.
With weekly church bulletins handed out before the service and a monthly newsletter emailed to the congregation Trinity Lutheran already had the core communication pieces in place, although, some of the Lay Leaders had seen digital signage in retail environments and thought it had the power to improve the churches communication reach and to get parishioners to act on those messages. A small committee was formed to research digital signage and they quickly learned that the technology fit in their budget and also identified the type of messages they wanted to communicate.
One of the concerns of the committee was keeping the messages on the digital display up-to-date every week. With this in mind they selected RidgeLogicâs SceneStudio Pro content development application which is optimized for use in a single location and provides a user interface that makes design and maintenance of the message on the system a simple proposition. One of the features that made selection of SceneStudio Pro obvious was the ability to edit text messages from a Microsoft Word document because they could be done quickly by anyone on the staff.
Placement of the digital display is important because it needs to get noticed by many people so the committee selected a location in the visitor and member information center where people gather before and after a service and outfitted it with a 40â? LCD display from NEC Display Solutions. The display is run by a media player that is on the churches local network which allows the multimedia messages to be developed using SceneStudio Pro on a client PC in the business office.
Trinity Lutheran is very pleased with the SceneStudio digital signage system. Parishionersâ notice the messages on the display and because they are in the church they are able to act on many of them immediately, which may mean signing up for a group activity, making a donation or remembering to stop by to visit an ailing friend. The multimedia nature of the system is very noticeable and is a now a key component of Trinity Lutheranâs communication strategy.
