THE NORTH AMERICAN MISSION BOARD’S NEW INTUITIVE AUDIO SYSTEMS CENTER ON SYMNET AND AXIOMTEK TOUCH PANEL PC INTERFACE

namb_building.JPG

ALPHARETTA, GEORGIA – MAY 2010: The North American Mission Board (NAMB) provides two principle functions that are critical to the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). First, it fulfills the faith’s Great Commission in the United States and Canada to share Christ, found churches, and, importantly, send missionaries abroad. Second, it serves as the organizing base for Southern Baptist disaster relief efforts. Within its headquarters in Alpharetta, Georgia, NAMB has seventeen conference rooms, four of which are considered the main rooms – one that seats 175 and three that seat 50 each. They are normally used for training, workshops, and lectures, but during crises, such as Hurricane Katrina or the recent earthquake in Haiti, the rooms double as the nerve center for SBC disaster relief. more

marc_bauman.JPG

LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK – MAY 2010: House Recording Studios on Long Island is a relatively recent addition to New York’s shifting studio landscape. With impeccable design by esteemed acoustician Frank Comentale, House Recording makes good on the often-promised but seldom-delivered combination of professionalism, comfort, and inspiration that are the hallmarks of a great facility. Not long ago, a Bock 195 FET large diaphragm condenser joined the studio’s enviable microphone collection. It has since been used, almost without rest, on everything from vocals to acoustic guitars to room tone to clarinet. more

Furman’s PS-PRO II and AC-215 Help Tell the Story of World War II in the Pacific at the George H.W. Bush Gallery at the National Museum of the Pacific War

PETALUMA, Calif. — May 20, 2010 — World War II in the Pacific was a unique conflict with its own history and character, a lesson that the recently opened George H.W. Bush Gallery at the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas, conveys to visitors through a high-impact, high-tech experience. Without properly functioning A/V equipment to tell the story, however, the impact of the message is lost. That’s why the exhibit technology team at Bowen Technovation, in collaboration with exhibit designers The Douglas|Group, chose Furman’s PS-PRO II power conditioner/sequencers and AC-215 power conditioners. The units protect sensitive components in the Gallery’s 40 multimedia exhibits, while at the same time enhancing audio and video performance for an optimal visitor experience. more

ASHLY NE8800 DSP REVITALIZES PALACE THEATRE

palace_theater_daytime.JPG

TAMARAC, FLORIDA – MAY 2010: The Palace Theatre for the Performing Arts is part of the Kings Point condominium complex in Tamarac, Florida, a community of some 8,000 over-55 residents just north of Fort Lauderdale. Its season runs from November to March, complementing the snowbirds’ yearly migration from points too cold for comfortable living in those months. The theatre books A-list acts such as Tony Orlando, Peter Nero, and Pat Cooper and seats 1,000 people without a single stair. Its acoustics are excellent, with appropriately upholstered seats, no parallel walls, and judicious wall treatments. The Palace Theatre’s sound system was passable, but hardly excellent, until the recent addition of an Ashly ne8800 8×8 DSP and a long-deserved alignment. more

BIG LEAGUE SOUND

coolray_field.JPG

ATLANTA, GEORGIA -MAY 2010: The Atlanta Braves’ AAA affiliate, designated the Gwinnett Braves, recently moved from Richmond, Virginia to Gwinnett County, Georgia, and, in so doing, moved into a new $45 million stadium. Coolray Field seats some 10,000 fans in stands that wrap from left field to right field. An additional picnic area beyond the outfield wall adds to that number. To deliver a functional, yet cost-effective audio system, the ball club hired local A/V design/install firm Baker Audio (Norcross, Georgia), the same company that currently maintains Turner Field and designed the sound system in the old Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium in 1966 that originally lured the big league Braves to the region. Surveying the field of loudspeakers capable of delivering big league sound at minor league prices, Danley SH-100s were the clear winners and now cover all of the main seating areas. more

In time for Christmas, Saint Stephen moved into a brand new structure that perfectly blends the rich aesthetic of its earlier buildings with a range of modern conveniences in a 1,000 plus-seat sanctuary. more
