CMS Wins PRO AV Magazine’s 2010 Spotlight Award For Bank of America Tower
CMS Audiovisual Consultants announced today that it has received PRO AV Magazine’s 2010 Spotlight Award for Best Corporate AV Project in recognition of its audiovisual design throughout Bank of America’s new 51-floor Manhattan tower at One Bryant Park. This prestigious award honors the AV professionals who demonstrate the effective collaboration among designers, integrators, architects and end-users, as well as technical innovation and design excellence.
“We feel privileged to be acknowledged by our industry for our design expertise,” commented Andrew Costello, a principal of CMS. “This distinction reaffirms the success of our company’s commitment to producing audiovisual applications that are technologically innovative, creative and customized to the client’s particular requirements.”
The project for Bank of America presented unique challenges regarding the large scope and the fact that One Bryant Park was being constructed with the goal of becoming the first high-rise building in New York City to achieve Platinum LEED certification.
The AV requirements included a variety of facilities: an Auditorium, AV Presentation Rooms (50), Broadcast TV Studio, Cafeteria, Conference Centers (3), Divisible Training Room, Dual Screen Videoconference Rooms (37), Fiber Distribution & CATV on all floors, Fitness Center, Media Walls (3), Morning Meeting Rooms (2), Press & Podium Cameras (4), Single Screen Videoconference Rooms (26) and Trading Floors (3).
Further, in striving to achieve Platinum LEED certification, it was imperative that AV elements of Bank of America’s interiors be environmentally friendly. In keeping with this, CMS provided the following initiatives:
· Integration of environmental controls for shades, lighting, etc., into the AV control system.
· Use of environmentally friendly components sourced as locally as possible to reduce energy consumed in the transportation and, ultimately, use of the equipment.
· Programmable timing systems for shutdown control of video walls, projectors and displays to minimize wasted energy use.
In addition, two major innovative AV elements were introduced to the project by CMS to address the client’s particular requirements:
1) CMS was the first AV consultant to specify AV management software for a large-scale installation. This enables clients to manage every AV system, no matter the location, on the network. It is now standard practice for all AV installations.
2) CMS was the first to play an integral role with the screen manufacturer in producing architectural glass that can be used for a high quality screen surface. It is now the benchmark for glass screens.
The successful implementation of the project was facilitated by the longstanding relationships CMS has developed with the various team members, including Gensler, the AV integrators and Bank of America, for whom CMS has worked previously.
