Fort Lee, N.J. – Golf Channel recently acquired two FOR-A FRC-7000 HD Frame Rate Converters for its facility in Orlando, Fla. The two units will be used to convert all of its PAL production feeds from Europe and Asia.

“Previously, our frame rate conversion was done by a third party. We decided to streamline the process and perform in-house frame rate conversion of PAL signals,� said Ken Botelho, Golf Channel senior director of engineering. “Now that we control the quality of that signal in-house, it saves time – and that saves money.� more

A Medialon Manager Control System is currently used to control and synchronize the entire AV devices installed inside and outside of the Macau Pavilion in Shanghai World Expo 2010.

The 10,336 cubic meters Macau Pavilion has been especially built for the World Expo in China. It is covered by a double-layer glass membrane and fluorescent screens. Its 20-meter high symbolizes Macau’s return to the Chinese mainland in 1999. The exterior of the pavilion is made of thousands of LED lights which change colors to create a splendid show. The design of the building was inspired by rabbit lanterns, which were popular in southern China in ancient times. more

Lighting programmer Matthew Piercy partnered with lighting designer Michael Franks to make sure the NFL Draft amped up the glitz and excitement when it literally rolled out the red carpet and made the transition to primetime television.

The 2010 NFL Draft was not only significant for celebrating the 75th anniversary of the event but also for being the first NFL Draft telecast live in primetime. Round 1 aired Thursday April 22 from 7:30 to 11 pm on ESPN, ESPN2 and the NFL Network; Rounds 2 and 3 on Friday April 23 from 6 to 10:30 pm; and Rounds 4-7 on Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. Ratings were high with ESPN’s Round One telecast the most-watched draft ever among viewers. more
