A virtual press conference from Sound & Video Contractor

PESA expands its International presence with the presentation of high definition video routers and signal extenders at BIRTV 2010

As the next step in routing switcher technology for multi-format hybrid fiber and coax routing switchers, PESA will debut the new Cheetah 64NE with redundant crosspoint technology at the upcoming BIRTV exhibit in Beijing, China, August 23-26, 2010.

Hybrid Fiber/Coax Routing Switcher pioneer PESA presents the latest features of our Cheetah product line, including redundant control and redundant crosspoint technology, in a leading multi-format high definition video routing switcher for transporting SDI, HD-SDI, and the latest in 3Gb/s signals for high definition 3D video applications. Using China’s most prestigious radio, film and television exposition as the forum, PESA will offer hands-on demonstrations of Cheetah’s control management system and switching capabilities.

Full featured 64X64 High Definition Video Crosspoint Routing Systems.

The 64NE routing system can be configured in groups of 16 inputs and 16 outputs supporting SMPTE 259M, 292M, and 424M with reclocking and equalization circuits built into each frame. In line with its positioning as a mid-sized routing switcher with large-sized market features, the 64NE offers advanced features normally found in only high-end systems. Features include a full range of system control capabilities for setting up crosspoint and signal management. Up to 16 switching levels and 600 control panels can be configured with each system, and each router supports most third party SNMP system management software for monitoring the health and performance of the router frame.

The Cheetah 64NE series provides convenient front loading slots for a matrix frame controller card, an internal system controller and a redundant power supply; plus a slot for installing an optional redundant crosspoint card – all in a single chassis supporting matrix sizes up to 64X64 in only 4RU. When paired with the companion Cheetah DRS Distributed Audio Router, Cheetah video routers combine the best of both high-definition video signal routing with a full complement of audio embedding and de-embedding capabilities – including the ability to demux up to 16 channels of embedded audio per input video signal.

3G-SDI to DVI/Component Video Converters
PESA will display the VidBlox 3G-NE-F which receives coax or fiber optic 3G-SDI serial digital video signals over a single fiber or coax cable and converts the 1080p60 compliant signal into a DVI or component analog video output. The 3G-NE-F is compatible with PESA’s full line of 3G-SDI Fiber and Coax Extenders, Converters, Routers and Switchers. The VidBlox 3G-NE-F provides de-embedding of audio from the SMPTE signal, USB local control, and two1080p60 inputs. Using the VidBlox GUI interface, input sources can be set for auto-detect, or set via software to receive a signal from a specific input port. The BNC port supports SMPTE 424M inputs at 1080p60 and allows coax cable connections up to 80m. The fiber port supports SMPTE 424M inputs and allows fiber cable distances up to 10Km using singlemode cable or up to 400m using 50/125 micron multimode cable.

Mini-Switcher applications supported with PESA’s new QuadBox 4X4 compact switch box.
PESA expands the QuadBox series of fiber media converters with three new product offerings – a 4X4 coax switch box, a 4X4 fiber switch box, and a 2 channel bi-directional fiber/coax extender. Supporting video formats from 143Mbps to 3Gbps, these modules provide equalized and reclocked video signals for SMPTE 259M, 292M, and 424M or can be set to by-pass mode if needed. For the latest in 3D requirements, the new QuadBox units are excellent for long-reach signal distribution allowing up to two dual-link HD-SDI channels to be distributed over fiber for distances up to 10Km. Each model is housed in a compact package which can be mounted under a table or rack mounted using the optional 1RU tray assembly. Up to four modules can be installed in the 1RU tray and powered through a shared power distribution box using only one AC power connection. This Eco-friendly package is power efficient and reduces the total number of wall plugs required. Each module can be configured as a network device managed through PESA’s CATTRAX software or managed locally through an on-board USB port using CATTRAX CUB software.

SDI, HD-SDI and 3G-SDI Switching for 32X32
For small scale routing of 3G-SDI and support up to 1080p/60, PESA offers the 1RU Cougar-3 capable of routing serial digital video compliant with all SMPTE and ITU standards, including support for embedded audio and other ancillary data for broadcast and digital cinema requirements. The Cougar-3 can be configured as either a 16X16 or 32X32 router, and it’s compatible with all of PESA’s control systems and remote control panels. It also allows easy setup for network configuration with PESA’s PERC2000 or 3500Pro Control Software.

In-line miniature coax-to-fiber and fiber-to-coax extenders
PESA’s Sabertooth fiber optic mini-extenders transport SD/HD/3G-SDI video over long distances using a single fiber optic cable. As one of the smallest profile coax-to-fiber and fiber-to-coax digital video media converters, the Sabertooth has a diameter of 0.55? (14.0mm) and is only 3.14?(79.6mm) long. They provide high performance media conversion between BNC equipped 75 Ohm coax connectors and LC connector-style singlemode or multimode fiber cable. With a diameter smaller than a BNC connector, the Sabertooth allows for the tightest possible unit-to-unit pitch available making them ideal for sharing fiber and coax connections on a standard BNC-based router.
