New FrontRow Lasso Classroom Sound System Ties More Multimedia Audio Together

PETALUMA, Calif. – August 2, 2010 – FrontRow has begun shipping a new classroom amplification system this week. Called FRONTROW LASSO, it is designed to be the workhorse option for schools with above-average connectivity needs. Through four audio input options — plus two more through the system’s wireless mics —LASSO can help schools get more impact out of their DVD, MP3, and streaming media in full stereo. In addition, an easy field-installable page override module lets schools mute the LASSO system whenever the central office makes an important announcement.

“More and more K-12 classrooms are becoming small media centers,? says John Merline, Marketing Director at FrontRow. “LASSO helps schools get the absolute best from their audio investment.? What makes this possible is LASSO’s combination of greater connectivity — three audio inputs in the back for permanent connection to DVD players and computers, plus a handy 3.5mm jack in the front for quick connection to iPods and other small devices — and an amplifier that’s tuned for very rich, full-stereo multimedia sound reproduction.

LASSO also ties into the school public address (PA) system — an optional page override module mutes the sound system whenever an announcement is made over the PA.

According to Merline, FRONTROW’s goal with LASSO continues to be making the product extremely easy for teachers and techs. In common with its sister product, the FRONTROW PRO DIGITAL, LASSO offers one-touch operation. “That means that teachers only need to turn on the microphone to start teaching,? says Merline. “They never really need to touch the receiver itself because it automatically wakes up from an energy-saving sleep mode when the mic turns on, and then goes back to sleep when the mic gets turned off.? The receiver also comes in a classroom-friendly color — green — to help make the product even less intimidating for students and teachers.

FRONTROW reports that the LASSO is UL-listed, on track for qualification under the emerging ENERGY STAR standards for commercial amplifiers, and compatible with the last three generations of FRONTROW infrared mics, so it’s easy to upgrade receivers without necessarily changing the rest of the school’s set-up.

The suggested educational price of a typical FRONTROW LASSO package is US$1199.
