Compix Boosts Branding Capabilities With Release of Enhanced NewsScroll 4.0 Software
Enhanced Features Allow Broadcasters to Add Sophistication to Production and Monetize On-Screen Space More Effectively
IRVINE, Calif. — Aug. 23, 2010 — Compix, a leading developer of professional character generators (CGs), today announced that it has enhanced its NewsScroll 4.0 software to offer more powerful channel branding features, as well as to enable the affordable creation of interactive, informational headline feeds. With added tools for creating graphics such as personalized lower-thirds, broadcasters can now easily monetize the on-screen space and increase viewer loyalty.
“The robust toolset offered by NewsScroll 4.0 gives broadcasters of all sizes the ability to create sophisticated productions that compete in look and content with programming from the industry’s top brands,” said Veronica Kim, president of Compix. “With flexible options for putting targeted and personalized content on-screen, NewsScroll 4.0 users are finding innovative ways of increasing their overall revenue streams.”
NewsScroll 4.0 software allows users to add multiple crawls, logos, and more — all with just a single channel. In addition to supporting a host of new functions, the software package enables simultaneous display of two independent crawls, which can be updated manually or automatically from RSS feeds; two static or animated logos; a real-time, customizable clock; a data box, typically used for weather information, that can be updated through text, Web, and XML files; an interchangeable ratings logo; and an instant text-update field for last-minute additions.
The RSS feature within NewsScroll 4.0 allows users to simply copy and paste RSS feeds into the appropriate space within the primary and secondary scroll fields. Once a refresh rate is set, NewsScroll automatically updates and loads all information for display. Further, a new Rollup Mode allows users to automate the display of information sequentially, rather than as a crawl, in the lower-third space.
NewsScroll 4.0 also features a new Cut Mode that allows users to insert full- or partial-screen graphics behind other crawls, logos, and text elements, all on a single channel. Adding further convenience to the software, new GPI and auto-start functions enhance automated and semi-automated playback functions, and a new Visual Mode makes crawls even easier to update and edit. All pages in NewsScroll 4.0 now can be viewed as text or as graphic thumbnails, depending on the user’s preference.
Operators can also open GenCG for instant template editing directly from the NewsScroll interface, simply by double-clicking the color-coded template name. Because the positioning and attributes of each item on the video output screen can be adjusted and saved, recall of individual items is fast and easy. All information can be scheduled to play through the software’s free scheduler feature.
