A virtual press conference from Sound & Video Contractor

BSS Audio® Strengthens Soundweb™ London Line Up With Introduction of BLU-101 and BLU-102 Conferencing Processors

BSS Audio®, a Harman International Company (NYSE-HAR), today introduced the Soundweb London 100 Series with the addition of two cost-effective conferencing processors to its acclaimed Soundweb London family of digital signal processors. The new Soundweb London BLU-101 and BLU-102 devices feature Acoustic Echo Cancellation and join the recently introduced BLU-100 in the newly created 100 Series.

The BLU-101 offers a fixed configuration of 12 inputs and eight outputs while the BLU-102 offers a fixed configuration of 10 inputs, eight outputs and a telephone hybrid. Both devices offer configurable signal processing, logic processing and a fault tolerant digital audio bus. The configurable signal processing offered by the BLU-101 and BLU-102 is roughly twice that of the Soundweb London BLU-80 and BLU-16 devices.

The Acoustic Echo Cancellation algorithm within the BLU-101 and BLU-102 is the same algorithm used on the Soundweb London Acoustic Echo Cancellation Input Cards developed for the BLU-800, BLU-320, BLU-160 and BLU-120 devices. The BLU-101 offers 12 AEC algorithms while the BLU-102 offers eight AEC algorithms.

The analog inputs of the BLU-101 and BLU-102 provide software configurable gain in 6dB steps up to +48dB per channel and software selectable Phantom Power per channel. Phantom Power, Signal Present and Clip information per channel is easily accessible, without the requirement for a PC, from clear front panel LED indication.

The BLU-101 and BLU-102 feature a low-latency, fault-tolerant digital audio bus of 48 channels, which uses standard Category 5e cabling, giving a distance of 100m between compatible devices. Fiber media converters can be used to increase the distance between devices to over 10km (6.2 miles) using single mode fiber.

The BLU-101 and BLU-102 are configured, controlled and monitored from HiQnet™ London Architect and are compatible with other members of the Soundweb London family. Their 48 channel digital audio bus represents channels 1-48 of the larger 256 channel digital audio bus when integrated with the BLU-800, BLU-320, BLU-160, BLU-120 and BLU-BOB devices. Up to 60 digital audio bus compatible devices can share channels on a single bus.

As with other Soundweb London devices, 12 Control Inputs and six Logic Outputs allow the BLU-101 and BLU-102 to be integrated with GPIO compatible devices.

Iain Gregory, market manager for installed sound at Harman Music Group stated, “The AEC algorithms run on dedicated processors but are represented within software as Processing Objects. This means that all of the configurable DSP is available for other processing but AEC inputs can be sourced locally, from networked audio or even post-mix for budget-constrained applications.?

The BLU-101 and BLU-102 along with the other members of the Soundweb London family provide the building blocks of the perfectly tailored system solution.
