Wowza Media Systems CTO to Speak At Content Delivery Summit Europe 2010
Charlie Good Will Join Panel on Changing Applications and Services Offered by Content Delivery Networks
EVERGREEN, Colo. — Sept. 22, 2010 — Wowza Media Systems(R) today announced that Charlie Good, chief technology officer and co-founder, will join a panel discussion on changing applications and services offered by content delivery networks at the Content Delivery Summit Europe 2010. The session will take place on Oct. 13 from 2:55 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
“Content delivery network operators, telcos, MSOs, and other service providers are investing significant amounts in infrastructure to support video delivery,” said Good. “They have to grapple with changing landscapes and evolving technologies. Content Delivery Summit is a great opportunity for content owners, infrastructure providers, and the financial community to discuss these challenges and understand available solutions. I’m glad to have a chance to engage in the discussion and to offer my own insights.”
Good will join a panel titled “Application Trends: Next-Generation Content Delivery Services,” moderated by Stef van der Ziel, CEO of Jet-Stream. Also on the panel are Steve Allison, senior technical evangelist, Strategic Alliances (EMEA), Adobe(R) Systems, Inc.; Thomas Vander Stichele, CTO, Fluendo Group; Arjen Wagenaar, CTO, CodeShop; and Chris Carper, director, Microsoft(R).
Questions the panel will address include: Is HTTP really HTTP, or just a general term for TCP applications on port 80? What is the future of the RTMP and RTSP media formats? Is video still the dominant focus for CDNs, or are application delivery and acceleration becoming more important? And what are the new formats and technologies to watch?
Charlie Good is the principal architect of the Wowza Media Server 2, a unified media server widely deployed for content delivery in service provider applications. An accomplished software architect with 20 years of experience in product conceptualization, design, and implementation, Good worked at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (SDRC), Claris, and Adobe Systems, as well as at several start-ups. Before co-founding Wowza Media Systems, Good served as director of engineering at Adobe Systems.
The Application Trends panel discussion is part of the Content Delivery Summit, a one-day conference sponsored by Streaming Media Europe that will take place Oct. 13 at Novotel London West, London, England.
