Triveni Digital GuideBuilder(R) EPG Generation System Earns High Marks At 2010 Diamond Technology Reviews

PRINCETON, N.J. — Oct. 4, 2010 — Triveni Digital today announced that its GuideBuilder(R) EPG generation system is among the select products to earn a rating of 4 out of 5 from the Broadband Gear Report (BGR) 2010 Diamond Technology Reviews. The BGR Diamond Technology Reviews, now in its fifth year, recognizes top products and solutions available to the cable industry. Determined by a panel of MSO engineering experts, the rating identifies products for their unique technology, innovation, ease of use, efficiency, reliability, and contribution to profitability.

BGR Diamond Reviews judges use written submissions to score products on a scale from 1 to 5 and provide technical opinions about the products. All scores and comments from review panelists remain anonymous, ensuring that judges can be frank and honest about the technical material they are reviewing while providing useful feedback to the engineering community about new products available in today’s cable networks.

“We have enhanced our GuideBuilder system with numerous tools designed to ease cable operators’ shift to digital operations and support their continued provision of quality services. And we’re very pleased that these innovations have been recognized by the BGR Diamond Technology Reviews,” said Ralph Bachofen, vice president of sales and head of marketing at Triveni Digital. “The Diamonds represent a prestigious honor within the cable industry, and we’re proud that our GuideBuilder system was highly ranked along other best-in-class solutions from industry leaders.”

The GuideBuilder EPG generation system from Triveni Digital generates the necessary metadata that cable TV operators require to get channel and guide information to customers using digital televisions with built-in clear QAM tuners, as well as to those with basic non-decrypting digital set-top boxes. This proven technology is also available in a GuideBuilder SI model that enables delivery of critical metadata to DVB-SI set-top boxes. The robust system provides operators with comprehensive monitoring capabilities, regardless of the standard and type of metadata employed.

As cable providers face increasing challenges and competition, the GuideBuilder system ensures deployment of a clear QAM digital basic lineup, which in turn frees up bandwidth for the introduction of innovative new services. As GuideBuilder merges, generates, and manages PSIP/SCTE-65 data, the system remaps virtual channels, merges and recreates metadata tables, and guarantees the consistency of PSIP/SI information to prevent errors in the transport stream. The system’s channel number virtual map allows channel numbers to be identical for customers with or without a box, which means that the transition is seamless for the end user. GuideBuilder also enables operators to give clear QAM customers channel branding, as well as an extended program guide.

“The GuideBuilder system earned excellent scores from our judging panel, which recognized its valuable functionality and versatility in meeting the PSIP generation and management needs of today’s cable operators,” said Steve Johnson, head of the Diamonds program. “With a high average score of 4, the GuideBuilder ranks among the most notable products reviewed in 2010.”
