JESSUP, MARYLAND – NOVEMBER 2010: API and Studio 270 of Montréal, Canada, are pleased to announce the sale of a new, 48-channel Legacy Plus. Studio 270′s analog recording console is the first Legacy that will come equipped with API Vision automation, as was recently revealed at this year’s AES Convention.

“Sound, sound and sound: that’s why we selected API. Studio 270 has a great sounding room, loads of outboard gear and more than one hundred microphones,” said Francois Hamel, co-owner of Studio 270. “We’re certain that the API 48-channel Legacy Plus will keep Studio 270′s tradition of quality sound alive for the next twenty years.

“The studio will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2012 and our beloved Raindirk 40-input British console is starting to show signs of fatigue, even after receiving a full recap and new power supply five years ago,” said Hamel. “It’s time for a change.”

According to Studio 270 co-owner Robert Langlois, after the debate over becoming totally digital versus staying analog was finished, the decision to go with API was obvious. “The Legacy Plus, simply put, is great sound coupled with easy in-line operation,” said Langlois. “We have many times where we have consecutive days of tracking full rock or jazz bands, which means we need a console that produces great sound and interfaces well with our tons of outboard gear.”

Hamel said the longest part of Studio 270′s decision was which API console to commission – a Vision or a Legacy Plus. “After months of internal debate, the team at API came up with the brilliant idea of putting the Vision Automation in our Legacy Plus, an API first,” said Hamel. “For us, it’s the best of both worlds-easy and fast in-line configuration for any freelance engineer and superb moving fader automation for mixing our internal music productions.”
