Women in CE Honor Five Outstanding Women at the 2011 Legacy Awards Reception During International CES

Gary Shapiro, President and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), Addressed the Crowd on How to Continue Fueling the Growth of the CE Business

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Jan. 19, 2011 — Women in CE, the organization dedicated to providing networking and career growth opportunities to women in consumer electronics, has announced the recipients of its 2011 Legacy Awards. Honored at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the award winners include Teresa Gallo, president of Market Share; Kathy Gornik, president and CEO of Thiel Audio Products; Stacey Kerek, general manager and COO of Lenbrook America; Jill Lynch-Wenner, senior merchant, mobile electronics for Best Buy; and Denise Morales-Wallace, vice president of global sales for Monster Cable.

“We’re pleased to be able to recognize the contributions that these outstanding women have made to CE and to the overall success of our CES 2011 event. We had about 200-plus attendees at the 2011 Legacy Awards Networking Reception,” said Carol Campbell, founder of Women in CE. “This year’s honorees represent a cross section of the consumer electronics business, underscoring the broad and significant impact that women have made on the industry’s growth.”

Teresa Gallo, President, Market Share
Market Share is a continual sales leader in the Pacific Northwest, representing key electronics vendors from all over the world. Gallo’s ability to innovate and identify new ways to market products in a changing economy has been key to Market Share’s success. Gallo also contributes her time, resources, and entrepreneurial experience to numerous charitable and community causes.

Kathy Gornik, President and CEO, Thiel Audio Products
As founder of Thiel Audio Products, Kathy Gornik had been dedicated to providing incredible products backed by great customer service. She is responsible for the company’s vision, direction, corporate policies, marketing strategy, and international distributors. In 2004 Gornik served as chair of the Consumer Electronics Association, and today she continues to promote the high-performance audio category.

Stacey Kerek, General Manager and COO, Lenbrook America
Stacy Kerek is general manager and COO of Lenbrook America, a member of the Lenbrook Group of Companies, which is headquartered in Pickering, Ontario, Canada. Lenbrook America, located in Sharon, Mass., is the U.S. distribution arm for the Lenbrook Group and distributes the Lenbrook-owned brands of NAD Electronics and PSB Speakers, as well as Tivoli Audio in the CE channel. Kerek is a 23-year veteran of the CE industry.

Jill Lynch-Wenner, Senior Merchant, Mobile Electronics, Best Buy
Jill Lynch-Wenner began her retail career at age 16 as a retail sales associate. She moved into buying and since has built an 18-year career at Best Buy, buying for several consumer electronics categories and rising steadily to the senior merchant status she holds today. As a mentor within Women in CE, Lynch-Wenner passes along her wisdom and savvy to the next generation of women within the organization.

Denise Morales-Wallace, Former VP of Global Sales and Channel Marketing, Monster Cable
Denise Morales-Wallace has spent her entire working life in the retail field. She began at age 15 as a retail sales associate and, over time, moved into merchandising and buying for categories including housewares, consumer electronics, and apparel. Morales-Wallace has been with Monster Cable since 1998, and today she and her team of sales managers, independent representatives, and international distributors work closely with major retailers worldwide. A strong advocate for Women in CE, she leads by example, embracing diversity and empowering others to make a difference in their professional and personal lives.

Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), spoke at the Jan. 6 ceremony, saluting Women in CE and speaking to the importance of using all of resources to ensure the industry’s vitality and to fuel the continued growth of the CE business. Deena Ghazarian, director of sales and a business unit manager at Monster Cable Products, served as the Women in CE Legacy Award 2011 mistress of ceremonies. One of the biggest supporters of Women in CE and advocates for its members, Ghazarian has paved new paths for many people in the industry.
