Three New Extenders from Gefen Streamline Computer Video Extension with USB Peripherals over CAT5 or CAT6 Cables for a Longer Distance Delivery

CHATSWORTH, CA — Digital connectivity solutions provider Gefen today announced the availability of three new KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) extenders. Now you can place computers in a rack, machine room or secure location, with the ability to extend DVI (or VGA) displays, USB keyboard/mouse and other USB 2.0 accessories to the work space. These new solutions create a quiet work environment best suited for audio/video editing professionals. Next generation features offer added value for the user, streamlining the amount of cables needed while expanding the overall distance of extension.

CAT5-1600A

The CAT5-1600A offers analog VGA users a long-range extension solution up to 1000 feet (300m) in distance. It extends VGA over one CAT-5 cable, supporting resolutions up to 1920×1200. The receiver unit provides a mirrored VGA output, while the sender unit supports the connection of an additional display for monitoring the computer source. Video adjustments for color, brightness and focus improve imagery when using a very long CAT-5 cable for signal extension. Four USB 2.0 peripherals are extended up to 330 feet (100m) over a second dedicated CAT-5 cable. Audio is also extended to the remote location.

CAT5-1600HD

The CAT5-1600HD extends DVI at full signal link resolutions to 200 feet (60m) over a single CAT-6a cable. High resolution video is supported up to 1920×1200/1080p with a perfect signal replication at the remote location. An additional CAT-5e cable extends up to four USB 2.0 peripherals capable of driving keyboard/mouse, printers, scanners, cameras, hard drives and any device using USB to connect to the computer.

CAT5-5600HD

The CAT5-5600HD extends two DVI displays with USB 2.0 peripherals to 200 feet (60m) using one cable (CAT-5/CAT-6) to extend all four USB peripherals, and two CAT-6a cables to extend both displays. Users typically use the second extended display to create an expanded desktop with support for high resolution video up to 1920×1200/1080p. The CAT5-5600HD is perfect for post-production and broadcast markets, or for anyone working with today’s popular video/audio editing systems.

All of Gefen’s KVM extenders are rack mountable, cross-platform in capability, offer locking power connectors to eliminate potential disconnects and are Energy Star compliant.
