Salem, OR – When ABC’s popular “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition� decided to focus on the Oregon School for the Deaf, they brought in local contractors such as Chris Rasmussen and his team from Hear No Evil to rebuild the dormitory and the Haunted House called “Nightmare Factory� which is the school’s largest annual fundraising event. Appropriately, the show was set to be aired on Halloween night.

Designed in the 1950s, parts of the dorm were seismically unsafe and the Haunted House had safety problems as well. During the makeover, the students were flown to Minnesota to receive brand new state-of-the-art hearing devices and got a surprise visit from award-winning actress Marlee Matlin.

Chicago, IL, Feb 28, 2011 — Ear Machine today unveiled iQ, an equalizer plug-in designed to learn the user’s preference. iQ recommends equalizer settings by analyzing user ratings of examples. The result is displayed in a traditional equalizer window where users can fine-tune the recommendation.

Portland, OR-March 7, 2011-For over 100 years, Millikin University, a private comprehensive university located in Decatur, Ill., has had a unique approach to education. It stresses performance learning, requiring students to practice their learning both inside and outside the classroom. This is just what Ronnie Dean, professor and technical director for the Music Industries Program, which includes Music Business and Commercial Music majors, does.

Dean, who has been with the school for 26 years, started in Nashville, Tenn., as a radio, television and recording engineer working at various studios on many different projects. In his spare time, he taught part-time at Belmont University, which is where he caught the teaching bug. In a unique and challenging audio project, BSS Audio was chosen for sound processing at the new Glock Horse Performance Center in the Austrian town of Treffen bei Villach, in Carinthia. The school, named after its sponsor, Austrian firearms manufacturing Gaston Glock, needed the capability to provide consistent audio coverage across the facility’s four riding halls. The installation was performed by Musik-Aktiv with the assistance of Harman Professional distributor Kain Audio.

The facility deploys four Soundweb London BLU-160 devices and four BLU-BOB 8-channel output expanders, placed on the Soundweb London fault-tolerant digital audio bus.
