LAS VEGAS – NAB Show – April 5, 2011 – NewTek, worldwide leader of video and 3D animation products, today announced that they will provide four students from Full Sail University with an intern-style experience at the 2011 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show in Las Vegas, April 9-14.

Full Sail University, based in Winter Park, Fla., has built a reputation as one of the premier entertainment, media and arts schools in the world, and they recently purchased a NewTek TriCaster(tm) portable live production system. The NewTek and Full Sail relationship allows the students to have a hands-on experience as crew members for a variety of NewTek events at one of the most influential industry trade shows in the country.

“At NAB, the students from Full Sail are going to get real-world experience creating the live webcast of our Broadcast Minds VIP event,” said NewTek Senior Vice President of Strategic Development, Philip Nelson. “Live production is the foundation of broadcast television and we’re excited to give these students a chance to show the world what they’re made of.”

The lucky students chosen to attend NAB 2011 are David Devore, Mark A. Randel, William Britt and Joshua P. Korotko. Under NewTek’s guidance, they’ll work as crew members on several NewTek productions, including the company’s annual meeting with its channel partners; the creation of the opening day video from NewTek’s booth (used for the company’s corporate website); and the Broadcast Minds panel event, featuring some of the top minds in the industry. The students will work as camera operators, graphics creators, technical directors, TriCaster operators, among other crew positions. Full Sail instructor, Pamela Siegall, will accompany the students and lend her support in all areas.

“We’re very excited to be working with NewTek in this endeavor to show our broadcast students, firsthand, what it’s like to work in an actual industry environment, such as NAB,” said Full Sail University’s Director of Audio Arts, Dana Roun. “The four students participating in this joint venture are anxious to put their knowledge to work, and hone their skills by helping out in NewTek’s booth, and with their other NewTek events. They can’t wait to get there.”

NewTek will present the second annual “Broadcast Minds” free event on Tuesday, April 12 at the Renaissance Hotel beginning at 6 p.m. PT. Panelists include Adam Carolla, Leo Laporte, Steve Hellmuth, and Mark Fratto. The event will be moderated by Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen, editor, Streaming Media Magazine. Space is limited and guests are encouraged to sign up at www.newtek.com/nab.
