Exclusive Video Display On Ensemble’s New Router at infoComm Exhibition

Grass Valley, California, 6 June 2011 – Ensemble Designs is featuring its new, award winning flexible matrix router at infoComm at booth 2313. The router’s exclusive realtime, thumbnail display is especially useful for use boardroom, live events and mobile applications. The infoComm exhibition will be held in Orlando, June 15-17, 2011.

“We were thrilled and honored to receive awards for our new router from Broadcast Engineering and TV Technology magazines,? said Mondae Hott, Director of Sales at Ensemble Designs. Broadcast Engineering awarded its NAB Pick Hit and TV Technology awarded its NAB STAR to Ensemble Designs for their new technology router.

The router’s built-in LCD displays a live video thumbnail of any video in the router. Operators are able to view a 3G, HD or SD source on the router panel in realtime before selecting the source. Video thumbnails travel over ethernet to the Avenue router control panel where they are displayed on a compact, high resolution display. Indicators for synchronicity and timing, AFD and audio provide confidence to the operator that a source is ready to use. The router panel can be used on-site in a television station or post house, or the panel can be used thousands of miles away.

“This is the first router that actually shows the content of the signals in the router matrix,? said Cindy Zuelsdorf, Markteting Czar at Ensemble Designs. “It’s so convenient to be able to see the sources right on the front panel.?

Generally small routers have a fixed number of input and output ports. Those routers are not expandable or can only be expanded by a fixed block of inputs and outputs.

The new, bi-direction input/output ports allow the Avenue router to be easily be configured and reconfigured to a specific matrix needed for the facility. The end-user determines which BNCs are inputs and which are outputs. SD, HD and 3 Gb/s SDI, DVB-ASI and 310M signals are supported.

The router is made of a highly flexible matrix that allows the user to configure the number or inputs and outputs that are needed for the installation. The basic size is 8×2. User-configurable input or output ports can be added. Any size from 8×2 up to 28×2 or 8×22, or any sizes in between, such as 10×5 or 15×15, can be configured.

“People used to settle for a matrix size that didn’t quite fit their particular application, said Mondae Hott, Director of Sales at Ensemble Designs. “Now people can choose the exact size router they need and make their own choice about how many inputs and outputs it will have.?

The optional clean and quiet switch makes this new router suitable for master control bypass switcher, QC monitoring, off-site news bureaus and radio shows, mobile trucks, and helicopters. The router’s clean switch option provides full frame synchronization allowing the router to switch cleanly between asynchronous sources. Audio is also cleanly switched.

The Ensemble Designs’ Avenue signal processing family of equipment is used in broadcast, production and post applications. The new Avenue router occupies from one to three slots in the Avenue 3RU frame and is comprised of three different modules: the 9430 8×2 router module, the 9435 clean switch sub module, and the 9440 ten port expansion module.
