Haivision Unleashes the Viper(TM) High-Definition Streamer/Recorder at InfoComm 2011
Compact All-in-One Appliance Simplifies the Streaming, Recording, and Publishing Workflow for Rich Media
MONTREAL and CHICAGO — June 14, 2011 — Haivision Network Video, leading provider of the most advanced video networking, digital signage, and IP video distribution solutions, today announced that it is showcasing the new Viper(TM) at InfoComm. The Viper, Haivision’s fifth-generation H.264 technology, is an ultra-compact, integrated appliance for capturing, streaming, reviewing, distributing, and publishing multistream HD and computer graphics content.
The Viper simplifies the recording and streaming of multistream content through a high-resolution touch panel. It is ideal for capturing and streaming presentations, lectures, simulations, training sessions, and other events where a single camera source is insufficient to reflect the subject matter. The Viper, supporting dual DVI or DVI with HD-SDI inputs, encodes and captures rich content generated by a computer as HD H.264 at full frame rate. There is never the need to upload content files to a server.
The Viper includes high-performance encoding hardware, building on the company’s acclaimed Makito(TM) technology, to capture and stream two synchronous channels of HD and/or computer sources. It can be used with Haivision’s Furnace IP video system to reduce the reliance on high-powered networks and central recording servers. The Viper can also be used as a powerful stand-alone complete IP video server system (ViperMAX(TM)). With ViperMAX, users throughout a facility can watch live multistream events or review rich media presentations on demand using Haivision’s patented InStream(TM) player technology.
“Compact and fanless, the Viper is an easy-to-use, ultra-reliable appliance,” said Peter Maag, Haivision’s executive vice president. “Today’s challenge across all industries is to build asset libraries by making the capture process as easy as possible and to capture the true essence of any event. The Viper addresses these challenges head on by combining ease of use with multistream H.264 technology.”
Leveraging Haivision’s latest high-performance H.264 technology, the Viper appliance combines real-time encoding, high-performance storage, abundant processing power, and a carrier grade Linux operating system with simple, task-oriented user controls for recording and automated publishing of multistream content. The Viper’s reliability is attributable to Haivision’s proven embedded system expertise and track record of designing integrated performance hardware, firmware, and software systems.
Like Makito, Barracuda(TM), Mako(TM), Piranha(TM), and Kraken(TM), Viper was named after a super-cool aquatic animal. The Viper-fish is the fiercest predator found in the deepest part of the ocean.
