Furman Unveils First Products in New Contractor Series at InfoComm 2011: CN-1800S and CN-2400S SmartSequencers(TM)
Designed for Commercial A/V Installers, Power Management Units Combine Robust Control Capabilities via SmartSequencing(TM) Technology, Advanced AC Protection, AC Noise Filtration, and Optional Compatibility With the BlueBOLT(R) Remote Power and Energy Management Platform
PETALUMA, Calif. — June 21, 2011 — At InfoComm 2011, Furman unveiled the first two products in its new Contractor Series of power management solutions. Engineered specifically for commercial A/V installers, the CN-1800S (15 amp capacity) and CN-2400S (20 amp capacity) SmartSequencers(TM) combine AC power distribution, protection, filtration, and sequential system power on/off in 1RU, 120VAC rack-mount units for commercial A/V installations of any size.
The new CN-1800S and CN-2400S are the first products to feature Furman’s SmartSequencing(TM) technology, which allows large and complex A/V systems to be safely powered on and off with a simple press of a button or turn of a key, even by nontechnical personnel. SmartSequencing’s bidirectional communications between installed units enables a primary unit to control and sequence multiple secondary units, ensuring multizone electronic systems are powered on and off safely and dependably from a single control point across an entire installation. Units can be connected via current loop at runs of more than 1,000 feet with backwards compatibility with Furman’s legacy sequencers and/or third-party products.
Providing robust control options, the CN-1800S and CN-2400S are equipped with RS-232 ports and command sets for PC control or integration with control systems. An optional RS-232-to-Ethernet adaptor (sold separately) adds full IP-addressability to the unit, allowing it to be controlled, programmed, and monitored from a smartphone, tablet, PC, or any Web-enabled device via Telnet, direct HTTP connection, or Panamax/Furman’s BlueBOLT(R)-hosted remote power and energy management platform.
Both devices feature eight rear-panel outlets — in addition to one front-panel convenience outlet — in four duplex outlet banks, with three of the banks capable of being sequenced on and off with an adjustable delay. All outlets provide clean, safe power with Furman’s SMP, EVS, and LiFT protection and filtration technologies.
“Devices in our Contractor Series have been engineered to power and protect today’s most advanced systems,” said Dave Keller, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Panamax/Furman. “Along with our trusted SMP, EVS, and LiFT technologies for advanced maximum equipment protection and performance, these units are packed with next-generation features that will greatly benefit commercial A/V installers. Our new SmartSequencing platform allows these units to integrate fully with advanced control systems, and it offers optional compatibility with a variety of Web-based remote communications protocols — including our cloud-based BlueBOLT platform — to meet the energy management needs of end users.”
The CN-1800S and CN-2400S will be available in Q4 2011, and the RS-232-to-Ethernet adaptor (model # BB-RS232) will be available in Q1 2012. Additional Contractor Series products will be released throughout the year for even more installation flexibility with the SmartSequencing platform.
