ENGINEER SAM LAKEMAN AND IRISH FOLK SINGER CARA DILLON JOIN THE RANKS OF METRIC HALO ULN-8 USERS

cara_dillon.JPG

FROME, UNITED KINGDOM – JUNE 2011: For anyone who lives to make music and pines for a soulmate, it would be hard not to envy Irish folk vocalist Cara Dillon and her husband Sam Lakeman. The two met in the band Equation and quickly left to walk – as seen in hindsight – a sure and steady path to artistic, commercial, and familial success. Winning dozens of awards and countless accolades, Dillon’s otherworldly voice takes the spotlight, and the duo have created and produced four solid albums on Rough Trade Records and, now, their own Charcoal Records. Lakeman also serves as the recording engineer in their second floor (this fact will become important) home studio. Tired of cobbling together equipment and re-jiggering routing on menu-heavy digital boxes, Lakeman purchased the powerful Metric Halo ULN-8 combination mic pre, converter and DSP. But from the time he would receive it to the more

DANLEY LOUDSPEAKERS CONVERT POSTAL SORTING FACILITY INTO A SATELLITE SANCTUARY FOR CORNERSTONE CHURCH

cornerstone_church.JPG

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE – JUNE 2011: What started as a meeting of fifty-five people in the Wharton living room in 1983 grew to become Cornerstone Church, one of the landmark mega-churches of the South. Located in Nashville, Tennessee, Cornerstone recently outgrew its 3,200-seat sanctuary, prompting the church to consider building a satellite facility. Because a large contingent of congregants were making a two-hour round-trip drive from Bowling Green, Kentucky, it made sense to situate a satellite sanctuary there. The church purchased an old U.S. Postal Service sorting facility and converted it to a sanctuary where live elements, including a band, would meld with a videotaped sermon from the pastor in Nashville. Because the music forms such an integral component of the experience and because the new room was built with no consideration for acoustics, Nashville’s Pro Audio Solutions prescribed and installed a sound system centered on Danley loudspeakers and subwoofers, which more

The ever-popular six-slot rack has earned a prime role on the new reality series titled “The Glee Project,” which follows hopeful contestants as they try to win a recurring role on the musical TV series “Glee.” While many who initially auditioned did not make it to the recording stage, the lunchbox (filled with API modules) was a shoe-in all along.

“When I was looking for gear for the new show I tried a couple other systems and some of the music got a little fuzzy and cloudy,” said Kris Pooley, a musical director for live tours and the music producer for “The Glee Project.” “The API gear gave me all the punch I needed and worked especially well on vocals.” Pooley’s lunchbox was filled with API 512c mic pres, 550A more

High Resolution Engineering’s DVI Over Fiber Video Extension Kits To Debut at InfoComm

DVI Fiber Extension

DVI Fiber Extension

To accommodate the needs of increasing numbers of people seeking fiber-optic solutions, High Resolution Engineering has announced that it has designed DVI over fiber video extension kits to support Lightware USA’s DVI-OPT series of transmitters and receivers. The kits, available for sale or rent from High Resolution Engineering, will be showcased at InfoComm 2011, June 15-17 in Orlando.

The company also offers another fiber-optical solution: exclusive rental of Lightware’s 80×80 Multi-Format DVI/Fiber matrix, which converts the video signal internally in the matrix and eliminates the need for extra DVI-to-fiber converters.

“With the rising costs of copper and falling prices of fiber it makes economical sense to go with fiber today,” says Mike Taylor, Partner with High Resolution Engineering. “Fiber also gives users the added functionality of incredibly long cable runs.”
