Lake Washington School District (LWSD), located east of Seattle, was looking to install new technologies that would better serve its increasingly more digital-savvy student population. Approximately 2,000 educators and more than 23,500 students, including a growing number of English-language learners, were asking for new ways to utilize technology within the walls of their 49 high-performing schools.

District decision-makers found during research that visual learning tools, such as projectors, improved student participation and held attention for longer periods of time. Gröna Lund Amusement Park, located in Stockholm in Sweden, has recently inaugurated two new amazing rides, including the “Blå Tåget� ride.

The “Blå Tåget� ride already existed but has gone through a total makeover. This ride is a ghost train loaded with new chills, thrills and effects especially designed for visitors’ enjoyment. The train passes through several chambers, each filled with skeletons, scarecrows, rats, wolves, fire, lightnings, ghosts and more!

The setting inside the ride was designed by artist Magnus Sörman and the entrance to the ride was designed by artist Joakim Hansén. For the technical making of this nerve tickling and scary adventure-ride, Kreativ Teknik was contacted by Gröna Lund. Kreativ Teknik, a Swedish-based company which mainly works with lighting, control systems and effects, selected Medialon to be part of the project.

Jim Kaiser, President of the Audio Engineering Society has announced that Roger Furness, AES Executive Director since 1994, will step down from his position at the end of 2011. An AES member since 1975, Mr. Furness has served as Section Chair, Vice President AES Europe and as AES President. To ensure continuity in all aspects of the AES organization, the Executive Committee has asked him to remain as Executive Director Emeritus throughout 2012.

“My seventeen years as AES Executive Director have been an exhilarating and deeply gratifying experience,” Furness said. “I have thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Convention Committees on nearly 40 major events in the United States and throughout Europe.
