Sonnox Announces Compatibility With Avid’s New Pro Tools HDX System

Sonnox Announces Compatibility With Avid’s New Pro Tools HDX System

OXFORD, UK: Over the past four years, software developer Sonnox has consistently produced innovative plug-ins to meet the needs of music producers, engineers, TV/radio broadcast and feature film soundmixers. This year, the Sonnox Fraunhofer Pro-Codec (developed in collaboration with the original mp3 inventor) was introduced. Designed to provide real-time auditioning of audio codecs within a DAW environment, the Pro-Codec is considered by many engineers to be a truly game-changing plug-in.

Sonnox has now revealed yet another important advance – compatibility of Oxford plug-ins with Avid’s new Pro Tools|HDX system launched at the AES Show this week. In making the announcement Sonnox Managing Director Rod Densham remarked, “We’re extremely pleased to be an early adopter of the Pro Tools|HDX platform. The new AAX format will undoubtedly become an established plug-in standard, just as TDM has been. In recent months we have doubled the size of our development team to meet increased demand, and we are working overtime to complete the transition to AAX as soon as possible.”

Avid’s new AAX (Avid Audio eXtension) advanced plug-in format, offers improved workflows and sound parity when sharing sessions between DSP-accelerated and native-based Pro Tools systems. The format comes in two versions: AAX DSP plug-ins compatible exclusively with Pro Tools|HDX (TDM is not supported in Pro Tools|HDX); And, AAX Native plug-ins, compatible with any system running Pro Tools/Pro Tools HD 10 software.

“Sonnox consistently sets the pace for superior-sounding, innovative processing for Pro Tools, and we are thrilled to see their portfolio coming to AAX,” comments Ed Gray, Director, Partnering Programs at Avid. “Sonnox plug-ins running on a Pro Tools|HDX system will provide a winning combination for the next generation of audio professionals. We can’t wait to see what Sonnox brings to our users next.”

The highly acclaimed Oxford EQ and Oxford Inflator are the first in a line of many AAX plug-ins from Sonnox. They will be available when Pro Tools|HDX ships.

The CP-X3021WN and CP-X2521WN can project the same computer image to a maximum of 12 projectors simultaneously via a network, a useful feature for seminars, shareholders’ meetings, campus meeting and other activities. In addition, the images from up to four computers can be projected onto the four quarters of a screen. A Moderator Control Mode (MC Mode) lets a moderator control the output of up to 50 computers through the network into the projector.

Both projectors feature Hitachi’s Campus Notification System (CNS), now with an audio alert function, for sending campus-wide announcements and important messages throughout a local area network. Both models’ PC-Less Presentation feature enables users to project images directly from a USB drive or other USB storage device, eliminating the need to connect a laptop or desktop computer.

Warwick Audio Uses Prism Sound dScope Series III Audio Analyzer To Test Its New Loudspeaker Range

UK-based Warwick Audio has invested in a Prism Sound dScope Series III audio analyzer in order to test the performance of a new amplifier that it has designed to drive its revolutionary Flat Flexible Loudspeaker systems.

The instrument was supplied by Prism Sound’s UK distributor, Thurlby Thandar Instrument Distribution (TTid).

Based in Coventry, Warwick Audio was founded in 2001 as a spin out company from the University of Warwick. The company’s technology is based on successful loudspeaker research that was carried out at the University’s School of Engineering by Dr. Duncan Billson and Prof. David Hutchins.

Using Dr. Billson and Prof. Hutchins research as its starting point, Warwick Audio has re-engineered Electrostatic Loudspeaker [ESL] technology to create a flat, flexible loudspeaker laminate that provides linear performance at low cost. Warwick Audio works as a design partner with manufacturers that are using its laminate fabrication to developing audio products for public or multiple listener spaces. As well as its base in Coventry, the company also has a specialist technical engineering and development operation in Ebbw Vale, South Wales.

In recent months Warwick Audio has been working on a new range of loudspeaker and amplifier products that it needed to test in order to measure distortion characteristics. Senior Electronics Engineer Brian Atkins, who is in charge of researching speaker technology and enhancing the speaker’s performance, was responsible for choosing the dScope Series III measurement platform.

He says: “We began investigating a solution for amplifier measurements, and looked at a number of audio test instruments, including the Prism Sound dScope Series III Audio Analzyer. This seemed the best because it was small, cost effective and UK-designed, and contained all the tools we needed for amplifier measurements, and hence we invested in the Prism Sound solution.”

Atkins began a dialogue with Prism Sound, during which he discovered that the company had already solved his problem by creating a software module that enabled him to measure distortion in flat speakers without needing an anechoic chamber.

Simon Woollard, Applications Engineer for Prism Sound, says: “A growing number of our clients are involved in the fields of both audio electronics and electroacoustics. We had an instrumentation architecture that could potentially support both electronic and electroacoustic measurements, so it made perfect sense for us to develop a loudspeaker testing module for our dScope Series III instrument. This module allows customers like Warwick Audio to measure their loudspeakers in a non-anechoic environment, providing frequency response, harmonic distortion, impedance and phase response using a gated impulse response technique.”

Warwick Audio is now using its dScope Series III to test both speaker distortion and general electronic testing.

“We especially like the instrument’s small footprint,” Atkins says. “It is very easy to use and to move around the lab, and is providing very accurate results when it comes to measuring our loudspeaker and amplifier products.”

Gefen Unveils Portable HDMI Signal Generator Upgraded for 3DTV with High Quality Audio Testing

Gefen’s next generation Mini Pattern Signal Generator for HDMI 3DTV is designed for easy mobility when installing, designing or trouble shooting audio/video systems in the field. Real-time testing of multiple displays and projectors, support for 3DTV, advanced features and the small, lightweight enclosure all make this Signal Generator a valuable tool for integrators.

The Gefen ToolBox Mini Pattern Signal Generator for HDMI 3DTV supplies several test patterns for calibrating and testing video performance. New video testing patterns are provided including 19 HDTV and VESA standard timings. The 3DTV test pattern supports side-by-side, top-bottom, and frame packing 3D formats up to 1080p @ 24Hz. It supports the connection of digital optical audio, used to test support for the HDMI 1.4 feature of audio return channel. This is to determine if the connected display properly returns audio over the same HDMI cable. This new Signal Generator can also analyze the audio/video signal on the input and display the exact video timing and audio specification.

Advanced features include a KSV count for connected sources. The Mini Signal Generator for HDMI 3DTV will identify the maximum KSV keys for each source. This is extremely valuable when distributing a source to multiple displays with HDCP-compliance as you can see if the system will support additional KSVs.

The Mini Pattern Signal Generator for HDMI 3DTV also allows you to store various displays’ EDID information through the local input and take it to the field. If you experience issues with signal loss when testing displays in the field, you can store that display’s EDID or use a previously installed EDID to overcome the issue.

The on-screen display menu, accessed through navigation touch capacitive buttons on top of the unit, guides users through all settings for an easy operation. Its ease of use enables a professional on-site evaluation and calibration of HDTV systems, immediately locating where problems lie so they may be eliminated.

Presentation to coincide with shipping of NanoFlex™ and NanoWrap™ flex displays in virtually any shape and size as well as NanoSlim™ and NanoShape™ non-flexible displays in 6mm, 5mm and 4mm pixel pitches.

NORCROSS, GEORGIA, October 27, 2011 – Coincident with the market introduction of a complete line of its NanoFlex™ digital flex and non-flex displays in virtually any shape and size, NanoLumens®, the pioneering Norcross, Georgia-based company that last year introduced the world to large format flexible digital display technology, today announced it has been selected to make a featured presentation at the upcoming 2011 Customer Engagement Technology World conference and exhibition taking place November 9-10, 2011 at the Javits Convention Center in New York.

According to the company, NanoLumens President & CEO Rick Cope will make a 45-minute non-commercial presentation on how innovation in digital signage is pushing the boundaries of consumer engagement. The presentation will take place on November 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the Tech Talks Theater in the CETW Exhibit Hall at the Jacob Javits Center. Underscoring the importance of this topic to the conference’s attendees, the NanoLumens presentation will follow the 2011 CETW Keynote Address.

“We are honored to be asked to speak in more detail about the unique capabilities of our core digital flex technology,” Cope said today. “The benefits it brings to literally every indoor and outdoor customer facing vertical market, from retail and restaurants to transportation centers and arenas, are immediate and profound.”

According to CETW General Manager Lawrence Dvorchik, “The Customer Engagement Technology World conference is dedicated to making our constituency aware of meaningful new technologies that will play an important role in shaping the way they engage with their customers. The NanoLumens display technology is a perfect case in point and we think the company’s presentation will help attendees understand how they can benefit from deploying this unique technology.”

First introduced in 2010, NanoFlex™ digital displays remain the only solution of their kind. They conform to fit any surface, are thin, lightweight, and energy efficient, and can be mounted as easily as a work of art. The revolutionary NanoFlex display shattered the traditional usage limitations of large format digital displays. NanoLumens is the only company in the world able to reliably manufacture ultra-thin and lightweight, easy-to-install and maintain, seamless 6mm pixel pitch flexible digital displays in virtually any shape or size to meet each customer’s unique requirements.

In addition to being ultra-lightweight and energy efficient, NanoLumens displays feature a seamless, edge-to-edge picture (up to a brightness of 5,000 nits) that can be viewed from any angle or any distance without color shift or picture drop-off. Designed and engineered to be energy efficient, NanoLumens displays consume significantly less energy per square foot than conventional digital displays. Further underscoring their commitment to eco-friendly technology, the NanoLumens displays are composed of up to 50 percent reclaimed materials and are completely recyclable. What’s more, some new NanoLumens displays can be serviced from the front, making maintenance easier than ever before possible.

Designed and assembled entirely in the United States, NanoLumens displays are now available in both flexible and non-flexible frames in four product lines: NanoFlex™ and NanoWrap™ flexible displays; NanoSlim™ non-flexible rectangular displays; and NanoShape™ non-flexible round, square, and triangular displays.

The company’s technology received the 2011 Breakthrough Technology of the Year Award at the American Technology Awards and has been recognized by Entrepreneur magazine as a 2011 future-proof tech trend and was cited by The Wall Street Journal in its 2010 Technology Innovations Awards.

NanoLumens® to Introduce Expanded Line of Flex and Non-Flex Displays at the 2011 Customer Engagement Technology World Conference in New York

Company that developed and patented flex digital display technology to begin shipping NanoFlex™ and NanoWrap™ flex displays in virtually any shape and size as well as NanoSlim™ and NanoShape™ non-flexible displays in 6mm, 5mm, and 4mm pixel pitches.

NanoLumens displays to change the ways show attendees look at customer engagement.

NORCROSS, GEORGIA, October 27, 2011 – NanoLumens®, the pioneering Norcross, Georgia based company that last year introduced the world to large format flexible digital display technology, today announced it will introduce an expanded line of Flex Displays, as well as its first line of Non-Flexible Displays, at the 2011 Customer Engagement Technology World (CETW) conference and exhibition taking place in New York at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, November 9-10, 2011. In doing so, the company will take a giant leap forward in its quest to fully commercialize its revolutionary “digital wall paper” technology that literally turns any surface into a powerful communications platform — while eliminating virtually all of the weight, installation, energy, and cost efficiency issues associated with traditional large format digital displays.

First introduced in 2010, NanoFlex™ and new NanoWrap™ flex digital displays remain the only solution of their kind. They conform to fit any surface, are thin, lightweight, energy efficient and can be mounted as easily as a work of art. The revolutionary flex display technology shattered the traditional usage limitations of large format digital displays.

“Our Flex technology can now be assembled to satisfy any shape and size requirements, so any location can now become a dynamic and dramatic video display” said Rick Cope, President & CEO of NanoLumens. “At the same time, our new line of NanoSlim™ and NanoShape™ non-flexible displays, available in 6mm, 5mm, and 4mm pixel pitches, will offer customers a more cost-effective alternative when flexibility is not a requirement.”

According to Cope, NanoLumens is the only company in the world able to reliably manufacture ultra-thin and lightweight, easy-to-install and maintain, seamless 6mm pixel pitch flexible digital displays in virtually any shape or size to meet each customer’s unique requirements.

The company’s patented display technology, which allows customers to select from 4mm up to 10mm pixel pitches (depending on the model), promises to transform the way marketers engage their customers indoors and out of doors in every type of trade show, retail, hospitality, stadium, arena, transportation and public event environment.

“Now, any surface can become a compelling display surface as simply as hanging a mirror,” Cope emphasized. “This product line is going to forever change the rules of the game when it comes to creative customer engagement.”

In addition to being ultra-lightweight and energy efficient, NanoLumens displays feature a seamless, edge-to-edge picture quality (up to a brightness of 5,000 nits) that can be viewed from any angle or any distance without color shift or picture drop-off. Designed and engineered to be energy efficient, NanoLumens displays consume significantly less energy per-square foot than conventional digital displays. “As the industry’s premier showcase of customer engagement technology solutions, we are tremendously excited to serve as the platform for the launch of this remarkable company and its expanded product line”, said General Manager Lawrence Dvorchik. “When CETW attendees experience the NanoLumens product line, they are going to look at customer engagement in a totally new way.” According to Dvorchik, NanoLumens displays will be featured throughout the CETW exhibit area as well, because of their compelling uniqueness.

The company’s technology has been recognized by Entrepreneur magazine as a 2011 future-proof tech trend and was cited by The Wall Street Journal in its 2010 Technology Innovations Awards. Tamir Ginat, C-nario’s CEO, said, “This is an important step in C-nario’s growth and business strategy. Bringing together powerful market-leading technologies will enable us to offer our customers solutions that provide unrivaled capabilities and address current and future needs.”

The company also completed a new $6 million fundraising round led by Carmel Ventures, Opus Capital, Pitango Venture Capital and Plenus, together with other existing shareholders.

“We are delighted to have assisted this transaction and to be able to invest in the combined entity,” said Avi Zeevi, C-nario’s Chairman and General Partner and Co-Founder of Carmel Ventures. “We can now combine the power of our individual strengths and core competencies to establish a leadership position in the digital signage industry. I would like to thank Tamir Ginat for leading C-nario to its current dominant position, and who was instrumental in making this transaction happen”.

“We plan to increase market share and broaden our coverage,” said Rami Kalish, YCD’s Chairman and Managing General Partner and Co-Founder of Pitango Venture Capital. “We see a tremendous number of business opportunities that we and our partners can effectively and efficiently target, and we plan to pursue those opportunities.”
