Aviom’s AllFrame Multi-Modular I/O System Now Available Internationally

New System Makes Digital More Flexible, Affordable for Permanent Installations and Portable Live Sound Applications

WEST CHESTER, PA, JANUARY 31, 2012 – Aviom, the exclusive developer of the world’s most powerful audio transport protocol, A-Net, is pleased to announce that the AllFrame Multi-Modular I/O System is now shipping internationally (ISE Stand 3.D140). The new AllFrame Multi-Modular I/O System is suitable for a wide range of permanent and portable applications, bringing the flexibility of the company’s powerful Pro64 audio network to the wall box, stage box or floor pocket.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to announce the availability of the AllFrame outside the U.S.,” says Carl Bader, president and CEO of Aviom. “We look forward to continuing to offer streamlined solutions, including the AllFrame, for all of our customers. Designed with the system designer and installer in mind, the system helps to make digital more affordable and flexible, keeping analog cabling to a minimum and reducing system complexity and labor costs.”

Based on extensive market research, the AllFrame Multi-Modular I/O System eliminates several expensive and labor-intensive stages of the signal chain while reducing cable clutter, making it ideal for permanent installations such as theaters, schools, houses of worship, and conference centers, as well as touring and portable live sound applications. Each device supports Cat-5e cable runs of up to 400ft (120m) between devices, with no loss of fidelity. Since it requires only a single Cat-5e or fiber connection, the AllFrame Multi-Modular I/O System eliminates the need for soldering, terminating and testing scores of analog connections as well as installing conduits and pulling separate cables for each audio signal, significantly reducing setup time.

At the heart of Aviom’s AllFrame Multi-Modular I/O System is the F6 Modular I/O Frame, a multi-purpose network frame with six field-configurable I/O card slots and integrated Cat-5e and fiber optic connectivity. The F6 can be outfitted to meet the audio I/O requirements of nearly any application. The unit can be mounted on a wall or in a wall using a standard NEMA Type 1 enclosure. Using the RK6 rack-mounting kit, the F6 can be rack-mounted, with connectors facing the front or rear. The F6 can be powered through a four-pin XLR connector, a Euroblock connector or one of the Cat-5e A-Net ports.

Another mounting kit that is now available is the SK6 Stage Kit, which allows for AllFrame I/O boxes to be used as drop-boxes on stage. The SK6 provides an enclosure for the AllFrame to be used as a stage box in live applications—a perfect solution for touring and portable live sound applications. What’s more, for installations that use Power Over A-Net, the POA80 Power Over A-Net Power Supply has recently been updated to offer superior protection against voltage surges and to deliver enhanced flexibility for users.

“Our customers will appreciate the fact that the AllFrame can be used in conjunction with the complete line of Pro64 audio networking products and Pro16 Series Personal Mixers,” adds Bader. “Because Pro64 supports any combination of serial and parallel wiring topologies without affecting signal flow at any point, I/O points can be placed anywhere the application requires. This simplifies design and installation and gives the end user more flexibility.”

The system offers users multiple connectivity options via modular I/O cards. The C4m Mic/Line Input Card provides four remote-controllable analog mic- or line-level inputs. With the same mic preamp circuitry found in Aviom’s 6416m Mic Input Module, the C4m provides clean, transparent, archival-quality sound. Preamps on the C4m can be controlled from an MCS Mic Control Surface, select Yamaha digital consoles or Pro64 Network Manager software. The C4o Output Card provides four XLR analog outputs with variable output levels. For those looking to stay digital throughout the signal chain, there will be a C4dio Digital I/O Card with 4×4 AES3 I/O with Word Clock I/O.

Aviom pioneered personal mixing with its Pro16 Monitor Mixing System and continues to break new ground with the revolutionary Pro64 Series of audio networking products. With tens of thousands of products in the field today, Aviom has set the standard for high performance, scalable digital solutions. All Aviom systems harness the power of A-Net, Aviom’s innovative digital audio technology that simplifies system design while enhancing flexibility and fidelity. All Aviom products are designed, tested, and manufactured in the USA. For more information, visit www.Aviom.com.

Clear-Com Highlights Upgrades to Concert at ISE 2012

AMSTERDAM, 31 JANUARY 2012 ─ Clear-Com, a global leader in critical voice communication systems, will showcase Concert Version 2.6 at ISE 2012 (Stand 11.D76). Designed specifically to allow collaborative workgroups to instantly and reliably communicate privately over LAN, WAN and Internet applications on Windows or Mac computers, the IP-based intercom software now provides an even greater range of features and options.

The Concert software is perfect for all production applications as it enables users to quickly and easily contact other team members who are shown to be ‘available’ for a call or text messaging. With the latest upgrade, other user statuses are also revealed – ‘already on a call’, ‘currently in production’ or ‘monitoring an audio feed.’ Unique to Concert, multiple conference sessions and/or texting sessions can occur simultaneously.

Another added convenience offered by the system is the ability for users to speak directly into their laptop’s existing microphone. The built-in ambient echo and feedback canceller feature eliminates the need for an external headset. This function can also be manually deactivated if needed. A “no audio” warning message, which informs a user when there is no audio detected from the microphone, is an additional bonus feature.

Concert can easily interface with external audio systems – including partyline systems, paging systems, program feeds and other matrix systems – using a four-wire interface over a standard IP network, which provides a seamless communications network.

Due to the current trend for broadcast stations to adopt multi-site infrastructures, the need for intercom-over-IP solutions, such as Concert, will become increasingly prevalent, as it helps to bridge the communications gap between remote studios. Given the latest advancements in Concert, markets that have relied on the system – including corporate, education and healthcare – will have the ability to collaborate even more effectively on a facility-wide, national and global scale.

To meet the growing demands of users, Clear-Com will now offer Concert in both full pre-loaded server and software-only options. Further, the upgrade includes two licensing alternatives – a lifetime perpetual license key, with the opportunity to add a software maintenance agreement, or an annual subscription with 12-month license key.

Concert Version 2.6 is compatible with the Mac OSX (Leopard or Snow Leopard) and Windows 7 or XP operating systems.

Revolabs Unveils FLX VoIP

First Wireless Conference Phone Designed for VoIP Networks

SUDBURY, Mass. — Jan. 31, 2012 — Revolabs Inc. today introduced the Revolabs FLX(TM) VoIP, the first wireless conference phone designed for VoIP networks. Supporting a wide variety of IP switches, the FLX VoIP is the only conference phone that supports the audio clarity of HD audio while providing the freedom of wireless microphones and speakers. The feature set that has been available through the Revolabs FLX for analog phone lines is now also available for IP telephone networks, providing unprecedented conference call clarity and flexibility.

The FLX VoIP integrates directly with most IP telephone switches following the SIP standard. Through this integration, new features only available through digital switch environments, such as voice mail alerts and “do not disturb,” can now be offered with the FLX VoIP. The phone’s wireless capabilities allow it to be used in small and midsize conference rooms without running any cables. As with the FLX for analog phone lines, this allows for a clean look while requiring less space on the conference table. The independent microphones, speaker, and dialer of the FLX VoIP give the user freedom and flexibility that other conference phone systems cannot offer.

“The majority of enterprise companies are already on IP phone networks, or will be making the transition soon,” said Martin Bodley, CEO of Revolabs. “Our FLX VoIP helps these companies get the most out of their IP infrastructure, providing unmatched audio quality, wireless freedom, and simple installation, while allowing them to take full advantage of the powerful new features of their digital systems, all at an amazing value.”

Combining wireless operation, high-quality wideband audio, 128-bit encryption, and integrated Bluetooth(R), the FLX VoIP redefines the conference speakerphone. Unlike the single-component design of previous solutions, Revolabs FLX VoIP evolves the conference phone into several distinct components, giving users unprecedented freedom with respect to placement and accessibility of the speaker, microphones, and dial pad.

Available with a variety of compatible Revolabs microphones, the FLX VoIP supports a lapel microphone worn by one person; an omnidirectional tabletop microphone that captures the sound of six to 10 participants; and a directional tabletop microphone that enables audio capture from two to three people. Because the FLX VoIP dialer operates like a telephone for handset calls and enables the set up of conference calls, there is no need for a separate desk and conference phone.

The Revolabs FLX VoIP can also serve as the audio interface for virtually any major brand of video conferencing equipment, making it the ideal unified communication technology for small to medium-sized conference rooms, executive offices, and small office/home office (SoHo) environments. FLX VoIP’s integrated Bluetooth technology provides a single collaboration device no matter which communication channel is used, allowing users to connect speakers and microphones to their Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones or computers.

The Revolabs FLX VoIP will be available worldwide in February 2012, and sold through major distributors, dealers, and resellers.

Norway’s Kilden Performing Arts Centre Opens With Extensive HARMAN Audio System

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands – The new Kilden Performing Arts Centre (Konserthuset Kilden) in the Norwegian city of Kristiansand is one of the largest and most technologically sophisticated arts venues in Scandinavia. Constructed at a cost of 1.7 billion NOK (US $287.3 million) and covering a gross area of 15,000 square meters, Kilden features an advanced technological infrastructure across four separate halls. To meet the high demands of this prestigious new facility, territorial distributor LydRommet AS provided a massive variety of HARMAN audio components for the sound reinforcement systems in each space, including JBL VERTEC® line array elements, BSS Soundweb London digital networking, Crown CTs Series amplifiers and Soundcraft Vi Series consoles.

Owned by the Kristiansand Local Council and Vest-Agder County Council, who helped fund it, Kilden will be the joint center for Agder Regional Theater, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra and Opera Sør (the regional opera company). ALA Architects of Finland designed the complex so that all halls can be used simultaneously. The Concert Hall is the largest space with 1,185 seats, while the Theater accommodates 700 seats, and the Multi Hall and Small Auditorium can seat 235 and 150 seats, respectively.

The Concert Hall is equipped with 24 JBL VERTEC VT4887DP-DA powered compact line array elements, a center cluster of two JBL VP7212/64DP-DA and one JBL VP7212/95DP-DA powered loudspeaker, eight JBL VPSB7118DP powered subwoofers, four JBL AC28 compact loudspeakers, 14 JBL AC2212/00 compact loudspeakers, four JBL AC26 ultra-compact loudspeakers, with Crown CTs amplifiers assigned to the non-powered loudspeakers. Processing was carried out in a BSS Soundweb London environment, with front of house mixing via a Soundcraft Vi6.

The Theater features 32 JBL VERTEC VT4886 subcompact line array elements powered by Crown VRack systems, a center cluster of two JBL VP7212/95DP-DA and one JBL VP7212/64DP-DA powered loudspeaker. An additional eight JBL AC26 ultra-compact loudspeakers and 12 JBL 8350 cinema surround loudspeakers round out the system, powered by Crown CTs amplifiers. The same Soundweb components were installed as in the Concert Hall, along with another Soundcraft Vi6.

The Multi Hall is equipped with three JBL VP7212/95DP-DA powered loudspeakers, with two JBL VPSB7118DP powered subwoofers, BSS BLU800 and BLU120 digital signal routers and a Soundcraft Vi4 digital mixing desk.

The Small Auditorium features a pair each of JBL VP7212/95DP-DA powered loudspeakers and VPSB7118DP powered subwoofers, complemented by a BSS BLU800 and BSS BLU 120, and Soundcraft Vi1 (along with Vi6 stage box).

Monitoring resources for all stages consist of 24 JBL VP7212MDP powered stage monitors, 14 JBL VP7210/95DP powered loudspeakers, 10 JBL AC15 ultra-compact loudspeakers, a Crown CTs 8200 amplifier and a Soundcraft Vi6 desk.

In addition to these, LydRommet has also equipped a 5.1 recording studio and control room with five JBL LSR6328P studio monitors and an LSR6312SP studio monitor subwoofer. The room also features a Soundcraft Vi4 desk and BSS BLU100 processing. The control room can pick up the MADI from the mixers in each of the four halls to record the performances. Patching can be either manual, or via an RME MADI bridge if also routed to either of the two OB vehicles outside, for which provision has been made in LydRommet’s clever cabling architecture.

The central sound distribution consists of a BSS BLU800 and BSS BLU120, with four BSS BLU16, and 50 JBL Control 25AV surface-mount loudspeakers. Kilden also features 30 channels of AKG DMS 700 wireless microphone systems.

For the official inauguration of Kilden on January 6, national broadcaster NRK brought its HD2 large TV bus and TR23 Soundbus, using its own Studer Vista 9 and Vista 8 mixing consoles respectively, in conjunction with the installed Soundcraft Vi6 and Vi4 (and three Soundcraft Si Compact boards).

The main music mix was carried out on the Vista 8 while a temporary control room was set up inside the building, where the 32-channel, 24-channel and 16-channel Soundcraft Si Compacts produced sub mixes for the TR23 OB—sending groups of strings from the symphony orchestra as well as groups from the 100-piece choir.

LydRommet had originally been invited to tender for the contract five years ago in a bid involving five companies. They successfully responded to a specification produced by Ivar Thommasen at Brekke & Strand Akustikk AS for a contract that included a video and digital signage section, a paging/show monitoring system and a stage management system in addition to the core speech and music reinforcement systems and complete cable infrastructure.

“The client asked for half-year adjustments to make the solution work in the best way defined for the job,” explained LydRommet project manager Alf Christian Hvidsteen. “This allowed us to optimize the system and make full use of the integrated solutions that HARMAN can provide.”

Working directly for the Kilden Project Group and alongside main contractor, AF Gruppen, LydRommet’s own in-house product specialists, Espen Andersen and Pål Solli, designed the sound reinforcement and distribution systems with the aid of AutoCAD, HARMAN HiQnet Performance Manager™, System Architect™, London Architect™ and JBL’s Line Array Calculator. The result was a show relay system incorporating 200 speaker stations—fed and controlled by IP over Ethernet.

“The results, to put it mildly, were stunning,” Hvidsteen said. “The preview concerts as well as the opening ceremony were a very good test of both the acoustics and our loudspeaker choices. All systems worked very well and the customer and audience were very pleased with the results.”

Atlona(R) to Highlight New LinkCast Wireless HD A/V System and AT-PRO3HD44M HDBaseT(TM) Matrix Switcher at ISE 2012

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Jan. 30, 2012 — Atlona(R), a leading digital connectivity solutions provider, will introduce its new LinkCast Wireless HD Audio/Video System and AT-PRO3HD44M high-speed 4×4 HDMI matrix switcher featuring HDBaseT(TM) technology to the European market at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2012.

“As we continue to expand the Atlona presence in the EMEA market, ISE provides a fantastic opportunity to show off some amazing new products — from all three of our product lines — for overseas installers,” said Ilya Khain, president and CEO of Atlona. “A big highlight at our booth will be our new switchers, featuring HDBaseT technology, and our award-winning LinkCast Wireless HD Audio/Video System. LinkCast has already caused quite a stir in the United States, and we are looking forward to bringing the same excitement to our European customers.”

Atlona’s LinkCast Wireless HD Audio/Video System allows home theater enthusiasts, gamers, laptop users, and others to connect multiple HDMI-based devices wirelessly to an HDTV or projector up to 40 feet away. LinkCast includes an A/V base station (AT-LINKCASTAV) and one LinkCast System Expander (AT-LINKCAST-HTX). The LinkCast A/V base station connects to the HDTV or projector’s HDMI input, and the LinkCast System Expander plugs into virtually any A/V device with an HDMI output and standard USB connection. Up to five devices can be wirelessly connected to one LinkCast system with the purchase of additional LinkCast expanders, each sold separately. The LinkCast system is backed by a full three-year AtlonaAdvantage warranty and will be available to European customers in Q2 2012.

Featuring HDBaseT technology, the Atlona AT-PRO3HD44M 4×4 HDMI matrix switcher extends HDMI sources up to 60 meters over CAT 5e/6/7 cables at 1080p or 1920×1200. The unit offers control of up to eight components through a variety of options, including the front panel, bidirectional control via the switcher’s IR and RS-232 ports, and integration with third-party control boxes for zone displays. Offering a built-in source S/PDIF loop out, the switcher allows audio to be sent to an AVR or amplifier for simple distribution. The unit is compatible with LPCM 2 channel, Dolby(R) 2.0, Dolby Digital 5.1, and DTS 5.1. Programmable memory presets, loadable to any source connected to the matrix, ensure that any display can receive audio and video. Taking advantage of the Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) abilities of HDBaseT technology, this switcher provides more options for low-voltage installations and lends itself perfectly to the integration of multiroom A/V systems in single-family homes. The AT-PRO3HD44M will be available early Q2.

These new products and more will be on display in Atlona’s ISE booth 4U63. In addition, the company will be holding an International Distributors Summit at ISE, covering sales incentive programs and offering sneak peeks at new products, training, demonstrations, and new business opportunities. More information about Atlona and its products can be found at www.atlona.com.

HARMAN’s AKG WMS470 Wireless System Band 10 Opens Frequencies To European Markets With Changes Slated For Mobile Internet Access Regulations

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands – AKG introduces a new version of its WMS470 wireless system with revised operating frequencies for the European market at ISE 2012. WMS470 Band 10 operates on frequencies between 823 and 832 MHz known as the ‘duplex gap.’ This frequency range lies between the areas that will be used for upcoming high-speed Internet service for mobile devices, and will enable future proof, interference-free operation.

“In many European countries the frequency range between 823 and 832 MHz will be exclusively reserved for wireless microphones and In-ear monitoring – in Germany the range can even be used for free.” said Wolfgang Fritz, product marketing manager – tour sound, AKG. Band 10 operates with up to eight channels simultaneously, and compatible frequencies are stored in preset groups. Users can also manually program frequencies in 25 MHz steps.

Designed for total ease of use, the WMS470 is ideal for a variety of installed applications including hotels, conference centers, houses of worship, schools, universities and other facilities. It’s also perfect for touring musicians and bands, especially those who will be travelling in different countries throughout Europe.

The WMS470’s automatic frequency setup function immediately finds and displays all available channels, making the system ideal for less experienced users to operate. Before opening a channel, the pilot tone function will prevent unwanted startup noise – the receiver will only open the audio if the pilot tone is detected.

WMS470 transmitters are powered using a single alkaline, lithium or Ni-MH rechargeable battery, providing up to 14 hours of use with lithium batteries. The WMS470 handheld microphone has a built-in dipole antenna to ensure reliable transmission with 50 mW output power, even if the user covers one antenna with their hand.

“With WMS470, artists and engineers in all environments will have a reliable, yet robust technology at their fingertips that is completely compatible with the changing European wireless environment of 2012,” Fritz continued.

The WMS470 is available in a variety of configurations for live music, instrumental, sports and presentation use including handheld, headworn and lavalier mic options. Packages include the WMS470 D5 and C5 handheld sets, the WMS470 Instrumental set, the WMS470 Sports set and the WMS470 Presentation set.

ZURICH, SWITZERLAND, January 31, 2012Barix AG, a pioneer in IP audio, control and monitoring, brings voice paging to the iPhone and iPad via the Barix Wi-Fi Paging App — the first open-standards IP and multicast voice announcer application for mobile iOS devices.

The Barix Wi-Fi Paging App, now available in the iTunes App Store, enables zoned voice paging from iOS devices on commercial, public and residential properties. Barix’s open-standards approach turns nearly any VoIP or IP Audio receiving device into a simple IP paging/announcement system. Besides the full range of Barix IP Audio devices, many IP phones are supported, as well as third-party IP Paging gateways and speakers. A one-time configuration process ensures that users can quickly set up a paging solution for immediate and ongoing use without hassle.

“Barix is bringing more than ten years of knowledge and leadership in VoIP and IP audio devices to the smartphone universe,” said Johannes G. Rietschel, CEO and founder of Barix. “The Barix Paging App draws from our professional IP Audio and paging knowhow to make Wi-Fi paging available for millions of smartphone owners across commercial, residential, medical and professional markets.”

Ease of use is central to the Barix Paging App. Upon download, users add existing paging receivers such as IP phones, IP speakers or VoIP paging gateways in the setup part of the application. Multicast addresses can be used to set up zones with multiple receiving devices. Configurations are stored within the app or an optional location device, ensuring a one-time setup process per site. For existing Barix customers, the configuration process can automatically discover Barix IP Audio devices.

Users can assign photos to each device or zone to create clear visuals for the paging targets. Once setup is complete, users can make announcements to one, many or all configured targets by simply touching the appropriate zone icons and initiating audio with the “push-to-talk” soft-button. Real-world applications include calling the kids for dinner, making general announcements to all classrooms in a K-12 school, paging doctors in a hospital, and announcing new security measures across a large corporate campus.

All Barix VoIP-enabled IP Audio products are compatible with the Wi-Fi Paging App, including:
• Single- and multi-zone VoIP Paging Gateways (Exstreamer and Annuncicom two-way audio product families)
• The “IP Speaker without the speaker” (Exstreamer P5)
• The ruggedized Annuncicom 155 for use in harsh environments
• The Exstreamer 205, which provides up to 50W output power for high-quality music distribution applications — and now Wi-Fi Paging
• Affordable Power over Ethernet (PoE) master paging stations (Annuncicom PS1 and PS16)
