Extron SME 100 Now Shipping
Extron Electronics is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the SME 100, a live H.264 encoder for streaming audio, video, and computer-video signals. The SME 100 employs standards-based H.264 / MPEG-4 AVC compression, and outputs an IP stream that can easily be decoded and viewed on desktop or laptop PCs. It is designed specifically to address the input requirements common to pro AV applications, supporting RGB or DVI input signals up to 1920×1200 as well as standard definition and high definition video up to 1080p/60. The SME 100 also features an integrated three-input switcher with audio and buffered loop-through connections to simplify integration. High performance Extron signal processing scales and optimizes video input signals for the intended viewing application. Encoding and compression controls provide a range of adjustments for bit rate and quality.
“Streaming encoders are widely available, but none have addressed the specific needs of AV professionals,” says Casey Hall, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Extron. “With its support of video and computer signals, advanced signal processing, and loop-through connections, the SME 100 is an ideal and cost-effective streaming solution for AV applications.”
The SME 100 is available in two models, with the SME 100 SD streaming at resolutions from 166×120 up to 720×576, and the SME 100 HD streaming at resolutions from 166×120 up to HDTV 1080p/30. The introduction of these models reflects Extron’s continued commitment to developing a range of AV streaming products that substantially increase the capabilities of AV systems. These capabilities include remote AV system monitoring, presentation and conferencing overflow, enterprise broadcast of central media assets, and broad media delivery over the Internet using a Content Delivery Network provider.
